I stand up for myself as a woman. And guess what? My husband respects it in me and encourages me. Standing up for yourself by being mouthy with an "in-your-face" aggressive attitude? Hmmm. I think that's called something else, it starts with a "b".

How do you force a guy? Sometimes my wife and one of her friends will gang up on me. It's terrible, and I feel so cheap when we're done.
Not to mention really, really tired.

I'm assertive. Too bad. Don't like it, don't read my posts.

When I'm out shopping with my wife, I would definitely say that men are the more considerate in public. I always see men getting out of somebody's way while saying to the wife, "Careful, honey, this person and their cart need to get by." The women generally don't give a crap if they're blocking an entire aisle and are oblivious to anybody trying to squeeze by. It's the whole world's job to stay the hell out of her way. Maybe that's just my locale, but that's my observation whenever I go to the store. I've noticed this too but I never ascribed it to aggressiveness. I've always assumed the reason women twist their cart crosswise to prevent anyone else from getting by is because they're just inconsiderate and have zoned out everything else around them. They refuse to even acknowledge your presence. It's even worse when they are absorbed in their cellphone call which is more than half of them.

What would have happened if the roles were reversed? If a man had done this, he would probably STILL be in jail. And that's really the whole story. Our society has prejudged men to always be guilty and women to always be innocent. Women have learned that, in social situations, they can get away with anything and nothing will heppen to them. If a man complains, he's a wuss or a baby. If he answers with force, he's an abusive bully and off to jail he goes.
Men today are basically at the mercy of women to act like ladies and women are learning that there are no adverse consequences if they don't behave like ladies.

Uncle Remus was my hero when I was a small boy learning to read. I still remember when all the characters seemed as real to me as my own family.
I wonder if there are any FReepers who remember Miss Minerva and William Green Hill? That wonderful book fell from favour for the same reasons but remains near and dear to my heart to this day.

He always gets the last word. And unbelievably, I support him when it comes to the hard decisions.

If it works for the two of you it is the right way to handle things.

That's just it, men and women aren't treated the same by the law. Women usually get more benefit-of-the-doubt when the cops roll up to the house. Women usually get a better deal in divorce courts, which treat men like nothing more than a cash register. I'm all for equality. Right now, men do not get equal protection under the law.

It's funny and/or empowering when a woman hits a man.
It's a crime when a man hits a woman.
It's BS....

Oftentimes it seems my husband will give in too easily to me...
I'll say, "I just made a suggestion, it's your decision, you don't have to do what I say."
His ex-wife was very abusive. She'd ridicule him, call him "stupid" in front of his employees...
(I know, I was one of them)

You are being attacked by the hostile FR feminist "Sistahood" brigade.
You have been branded a chauvinist.
Sorry... :-)

I don't know. Domestic duties called and I had to go fix supper. I'll read through the last half of the posts and try to decide who, if anyone, had the last word.
Are you there, Rips? Who had the last word?
To: true_blue_texican
Well, it's true! Women ARE more likely to be the perpetrators of victims.
To: Song of the South; RipSawyer
He posted to me at number 52. I didn't reply to him after that.
