Well they already have all the dealers and drugs on the streets that they need. It is just a small step to declare them all doctors and this plan is implemented.

You forgot that liberal programs never fail. They just get underfunded...

Oh yeah...:(

That would mean using common sense.

And watch the tax base decline sending the whole scheme into a downward spiral. I wonder if they will require those wishing medical assistance to provide a picture ID to prove they live in San Francisco. Free medical care will be a magnet for everyone in the metro area.

Free medical care will be a magnet for everyone in the metro area.

Above and beyond that, there's the "What the hell, it's free." syndrome.

You get a slight itch in your throat. If you have to pay for it, you live with it. If you don't have to pay for it, you rush to the nearest doctor. Why? What the hell. It's free.

I expect Dr's and Hospitals to increase business humongously in the near future.

How many doctors will want to work in such an environment? It's madness. I hope it is approved and goes forward. Such a disaster will make those wanting a national health care plan think twice about supporting it.

The ordinance adopted Tuesday calls for businesses with more than 50 employees to start participating starting next July, while it would take effect for enterprises with 20 or more workers in April 2008.

What are they waiting for? For the politicos to retire?

Why don't they start it next week? Why not mandate it for businesses with only 2 employees??

Come on! Let's shut down all business in San Francisco!

Notice that SF didn`t do anything to limit lawyers fees. Want to reduce health care cost, shoot a lawyer.

Its already been done. California caps amount of money that can be awarded for non-economic damages in a medical malpractice suit, as well as capping attorney's fees.

Blame it on the republicans and find some way to get the funds from the federal government.

How, by any measure, can San Francisco still be considered a part of these United States? Little Cuba by the Bay.

Medi-Cal (California State Medicaid) is a joint state and federal health insurance program; programs vary from state to state but for Medi-Cal California picks up a good portion of the tab. Arnie won't be happy about this.

So SF will be doing a lot of creative billing to try to float this uni health care.

This plan is going to balloon into a multibillion dollar liability on the city within 2 fiscal years of going live.

I see a business oppurtunity though, set up a hotel with less than 20 employees and set up a website in 10 languages offering free medical care vacations for people throughout the world. Offer free jitney service to and from the hospital. 100% occupancy rates for however long this scheme of the insane goes on.

Just three hundred AIDS patients without insurance could cost $50+ million a year.
Add 30,000 illegals
Add 10,000 international tourists
Add 15% of the local population without insurance.

This plan will bankrupt SanFran faster than TennCare destroyed the Tenn. state budget.
