Golly, I love that song! Perhaps it will inspire El Jefe?

Anybody stop to think that Hugo Chavez may want to take over?

It feels funny in a fight for life to be rooting for the cancer.

Gimme a 'C'!
Gimme an 'A'!
Gimme an 'N'!
Gimme a 'C'!
Gimme an 'E'!
Gimme an 'R'!

What's that spell? Freedom for Cuba!

No problem for me...

Chuck Schumer is stuck in Britain and may not be able to get back for the funeral?

If there's a funeral, Chuckie wants to be the corpse. If there's a wedding, he wants to be the bride. In either case, he'll be on camera.

I plan to be first on the island to buy a '57 Chevy hardtop, a case of rum and point out where Hoffa is buried.

He is dead. He has jumped the shark. He has swallowed the hook. He has gone into that goodnight full of his eternal nightmares

Last week, Hugo told the world he'd talked to Fidel and found him in terrific health. Naturally that meant he was on death's door.

Commies lie. End of communist language lesson #1.

I've never heard that lyric from Stagolee. The last one I've usually read was "we was all glad to see him die". After bad old Stagolee had his neck stretched of course.

He's not pinin', he's passed on! This dictator is no more! He has ceased to be! He's expired and gone to meet his maker! This is a late dictator. He's a stiff. Bereft of life, he rests in peace. He's rung down the curtain and joined the choir invisible! This is an ex-dictator!

Extant or not, Article III would seem to do the trick:

Article III. The Government of Cuba consents that the United States may exercise the right to intervene for . . . the maintenance of a government adequate for the protection of life, property, and individual liberty . . .

"Fidel Castro is in a "great battle for life," "
Well, either he loses, or life loses.

It is said of the Roman emperor Tiberius that he was pronounced dead and his adoptive grandson Gaius, called Caligula, proclaimed emperor in succession. Tiberius then revived, to the horror of Caligula and practically everybody else. The problem was resolved by murdering Tiberius (according to one account, he was smothered under a pile of laundry). I wonder if something similar has happened, or is about to happen, to Fidel Castro. It would be a fitting end.

I like the story of Beria at Stalin's deathbed, spitting on the body when he thought he was dead, then falling to his knees praying for his recovery when Stalin opened his eyes.

Look at this way: Chavez must know for a fact that Castro is dead, and he is sweating bullets right now. Chavez could be Castro's money tree for only as long as the world believed that Castro was alive. Without Castro, Chavez' legitimacy is finished.

But now, as goes Castro, so goes Chavez. No guarantee on immortality for the Venezuelan dictator, either.

"Sic semper tyrannis!"
