Would these trucks and their drivers be subject to regulatory authority by the DOT? I see them periodically running sweeps on truckers here in central FloriDUH and, it almost seems as though anything with more than 4 wheels or a name like Mack, Kenworth or Peterbilt will get you pulled over by the DOT. Any chance of that occuring with the Mexican trucks/drivers?

I was assistant transportation manager at one time with a major meatpacking company. It is a fact many truckers doctor their books in order to increase their driving time.

A NAFTA arbitration panel concluded in February 2001 that the U.S blanket refusal to process the applications of Mexican carriers seeking U.S. authority because of concerns over the carriers' safety was in breach of its NAFTA obligations.

So instead of respecting the American people's wishes, the president vows we will conform to the NAFTA, and the non US citizens who make the rules. NAFTA is effectively eliminating self government for the American people

Anecdotal evidence: I know a guy who used to drive big rigs for a temp trucking firm who fudged his hours on one run.
