Liar! No, I did not get shot down. I simply did not respond to your nonsense. You wanted me to detail why this is not a good program.

Gary...with all due respect, the very definition of loosing an argument is that you can't support your position with facts. If you have the facts, I for one, would like to see them. Otherwise you just look like you're enjoying the whippings.

"the nationwide network of NATFA superhighways that are planned to run from Mexico to Canada"

The illegals are currently hampered in their invasion by less-than-adequate roadways?

"dividing the United States into economic and social districts."

I guess that old constitutional idea of the country being a union of sovereign states doesn't much appeal to our internationalist leaders.

Screw Bush, Perry, and anyone else pushing this idiotic plan. I don't want to be more closely connected to Mexico (or to Canada for that matter). I want to be more isolated from them.

Would these trucks and their drivers be subject to regulatory authority by the DOT?

Yes.

No, purely for hours. If they were checked, they would hide one and show the other. Both would be under the limit.

I wonder, do the Feds actually have the authority to regulate truckers' hours under the Commerce Clause?

You know, now that I think about it, I wonder why the Feds never caught on. All they would have had to do is check paystubs. Or maybe not, if the driver argued he was paid for sleeping? I honestly don't know . . . it wasn't my department, and the moment I caught whiff of it I stopped asking questions.

Somebody must have promised him something under the table to make this worth his while.

I doubt that the promise was cash.

I can't imagine the authority coming from anything else.

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, the Commerce Clause will usually do the trick.

Hmm...trucks carrying cargo on interstate roads...gosh that looks like interstate commerce to me.

Surprisingly you don't argue that NAFTA is eliminating self government of the American people, so that part must be accurate.

But you are also wrong when you claim it was the Clinton admninistration. From YOUR source:

President Clinton postponed implementation of NAFTA cross-border trucking provision,

and

In February 2001, the Bush Administration announced it would fully comply with NAFTA obligations regarding truck and bus access

The court challeges by the Teamsters and Public Citizen (your people) were not resolved until 2004, and I'm not even sure if the new rules are in effect now, so I'm not sure what your point is.

And I mean U.S. Supreme Court challenges, not double-secret NAFTA tribunal stuff.
