"...dividing the United States into economic and social districts."

I must have missed the election that asked the citizens of the USA whether they wanted to be divided into "economic and social districts." Silly me...I thought we were divided into states, but I guess the central planners at the UN and their lap dogs in DC have other plans for us tax drones.
The way I see it, the only election we have that will tell our keepers how much we hate this usurpation of our sovereignty is to start voting out any politician who promotes this power grab. And that means voting Gov. Goodhair of TX out of office in November.

It is a fact many truckers doctor their books in order to increase their driving time.

So they break the law?.... Interesting.

How many companies use on their tractor/trailers now a tattle-tell devices or GPS system to monitor their locations, drive time, stoppage, etc.?

Lots of talk about the logs, etc. but look for more and more use of devices to monitor the vehicle operation, down time, location, speed, etc to become the norm over time. In fact part of the containerized shipments out of KC are comptemplating the use of a device that will stay with the container once sealed and it will be tracked until it reached its destination at the port or some other location.
GPS monitoring is use today on 18 wheelers... probably more than most realize.

GPS Tracking Solutions

From a plaintiff law firm specializing in truck accidents....

....The Federal regulations that are most important to prosecuting a trucking case are found under the Code of Federal Regulations title 49 sections 390 through 396. A number of states including Texas have adopted these Federal regulations or similar regulations. Some of the Federal regulations found under 40 C.F.R. §§ 390-396 regulate such things as qualifications of drivers; hours of service of drivers; and inspection, repair, and maintenance.

Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulationsare designed to protect motorists from the negligent actions of truck drivers and trucking companies. For example, to prevent driver fatigue, truckers can’t drive for more than 10 hours in a 24-hour period. There also are rules dealing with the proper loading of materials and safety rules when passing other vehicles and on traveling speeds. Truckers are required to keep logs of their driving time and trucking companies are required to keep maintenance records. Most modern trucks also have GPS devices that show, down to the minute, how fast the driver was going and how quickly they came to a stop. By comparing the GPS records with the driver’s logbook, we can find discrepancies between driver logbooks and GPS records.

Gary...with all due respect, the very definition of loosing an argument is that you can't support your position with facts. If you have the facts, I for one, would like to see them. Otherwise you just look like you're enjoying the whippings.

Deek, with all due respect the burden of proof is on the other side to prove this is a good program, and expecially when you are talking about such a massive tax burden.

How about this:
1) There is no tax burden, only a user fee (the cornerstone of conservative tax principle).
2) It relieves I-35, which is stop-and-go most days.
3) It improves the Texas economy by bringing in more goods/services

Your turn.

Are you saying that the land that will be confiscated won't be paid for?

From what I've read about this so called Super Highway, it's starting in Texas alright, then will come right up following I35, which will cut my state of Iowa in two, right down the middle.

From the first time I read about this scheme, the thing that blared out to me was the fact that NO ONE is going to get to vote on this evil plan. It's an "agreement" between Bush, Fox and the PM of Canada, all being done under the radar, not to come up before the people. I don't trust Congress,I don't know that they've had any input to this, but if they have, the whole damned bunch needs to be brought up on treason charges. We'd better face up to the fact that our nation is being run by huge international corporations and the gov., whether it's Democrat or Republican, for the most part has sold their soul to the devil for the almighty dollar.

The land that is condemned is not paid for by tolls. It is paid for by the taxpayers. You have a sequencing issue. You have to condemn it first, before the toll road can even be built.

Hedge...that is not the way it works. The developer pays for both land and road. They recover their costs through the collection of tolls.

So the developer has the right to eminent domain?

You might want to read this;

Our Supreme Court has now declared that there is no private property and that any community is free to take any property it wants for private development. Again, the Sustainable Development public/private partnerships help the elite to profit from someone else's pain.

The politicians get more power. Their buddies, the chosen developers, make money building the project. The real estate agents have a new product to sell. The community makes more tax revenue. Everybody's happy in the well-ordered society. Of course the property owner has his dreams shattered, but the common good must always be considered over a few malcontents.

The legalized assault on private property has given rise to a horde of powerful non-elected government agencies like planning commissions, transportation commissions, homeowner associations, neighborhood councils, and stakeholders consensus councils.

It provides a power structure to an army of activists called non-governmental organizations (NGOs) who work in partnership with all the councils and associations to make and enforce policy. There is no place in a Free Society for the legalized theft of private property.

If there is in my lifetime a North American Union, I am going to run for the North American Parliament....and become a hellraiser of the first order. Sort of like the handful of courageous anti-European Union MEP's.

These folks must be in the dark about the "Big Dig" Boston Style and how to funnel $15,000,000 dollars into a hole in the ground.

Minus the FEES of the Builderburghers in charge.

I see some of the same names.
