I can't understand how anyone who lived through the Carter years can entertain anything he has to say.
Yes, he's an ex-president, but he was an abject failure as such.
He needs to stick to pounding nails into plywood for photo-ops and shut up!
What a small senile ignorant man.
-- mother of the 64th president, Jimmy Carter Lillian Carter
**************
That is one of the saddest quotes I have ever seen. My sympathies to the Carter boys.
Hmm, trying to think here, through waves of sorrow.
Maybe there ought to be a new "rule". If you want to be president, fine. But, when your term of office is over, you are obligated to committ "suttee" or whatever the Japanese do with swords and bowels....
It would surely keep us safe from glory guys, who have no idea how to shut their pie holes, right? How many would go for the brass ring, then?
Might put a whole new meaning on the notion of "serving your country", right? You want to be "Commander in Chief"? Fine, be it, then do what the least of us are willing to do.
I am not sure whether this is sarcasm, really. I am too close to the anniversary of loss of my oldest child to be trusted with a keyboard.
Jimma, is that you out there trying to say something.
Shut up.......
Carter has peanuts for brains. He is so annoying and his big teeth always creeped me out.
Oddly enough, Lieberman hopes Carter loses his voice.
Does anybody know where we can reach this piece of garbage so we can tell him to shut up?
so it seems
HAHAHAHA!........."It's a bimb!"......did you say.."bimb"?......."Yeas. A bimb you fuel!"
FMCDH(BITS)
Exactly.
Our former Republican presidents have exhibited a lot more class than Carter.
I don't know that the system has changed, but the networks used to alternate Blue for the Republican one presidential election and Blue for the Democratic presidential candidate in the next presidential election.Thing that struck me was how many of the states which were red for Carter were red for Bush these past two elections. I.e., the South. When the South is base of the Republican Party - the party of Abraham Lincoln - you know that the Civil War is finally over.
We'll have our midterm elections in November, and the day afterward we'll be seriously talking about presidential candidates for '08. As of now, I don't have a candidate. Normally a candidate should be the successful governor of a big state. But the one who stands out is named Bush, governor of Florida, and that just might not sell - not to mention that he probably would get resistance on the immigration issue. John McCain thinks he'll be the nominee, but
- McCain is dead wrong on campaign finance regulation; his legislation is flatly counter to the Constitution and (now as the deciding vote has changed hands from O'Connor to Alito) will be ruled so when next it is considered by the Supreme Court. Yet McCain wants to extend that abortion of a law even further into tyranny.
- McCain is a senator with no high-level executive experience.
- McCain is past his sell-by date. You attain statewide office, you better reach at least the vice presidency within 14 years as no one who has not done so by then has ever been elected to the presidency.
- McCain is a darling of the journalists, and will remain so until he is running for president against a liberal Democrat. At that moment he will just be a member of the corrupt Keating Five senators caught with their hands in the cookie jar.
I read in your post a combination of sarcasm, sorrow, and sincerity.
"Suttee" is the (Asian) Indian form of ritual suicide where wives immolate themselves after their husband dies.
I believe what you meant is "Seppuku", the Japanese form of ritual suicide where a Samurai would disembowel himself at the order of their master. This was usually done with great ceremony, using a tanto, the secondary blade commonly carried by a Samurai, sometimes for this express purpose.
While seppuku is a rite of Bushido, something Carter could not hope to lay honorable claim to, it will suffice for our purposes here. It also has no mandate according to your Constitution, but again, seeing as that particular set of law had been distorted beyond all recognition in the last 200+ years, we can make an exception there, as well.
