He talked with people, who still recall Long as a Robin Hood taking back from the rich and redistributing to the poor...
Huey Long died in 1935. A person born the year he died would be 71. So...I wonder who he talked to, that "recalled".

he said he would not become one of those actors who goes into politics himself.
"You know what the honest truth is? I don't want to," Penn said. "It's hard enough to go out there and party at a film festival and shake so many hands and smile, you know? I mean, forget it."
---
Dude! PARTY Dude! Like Party man! Like man, partying is, like hard, Dude!
(And the a-hole has the nerve to slam Bush! Pfffffffffftt!)

Darn, it would have been interesting and educational to see a theatre production of President Penn being assassinated.

he's a potent demagogue on the big screen.
Actually he's a demagogue off screen too.
Just impotent.

"...the flailing arms and bellow of a fire-and-brimstone preacher, Penn imbues Stark with fearsome energy"
Except for the southern accent he could study everything he needs with any of our contemporary Demagogues such as Pelosi, Dean, Algore, Hillarity, John "Vichy" Kerry, et al.... and of course Bill Clinton and John Edwards do rather well at channeling shameless southern Demagogues......... all told, Sean Penn had no shortage of political role models from the left for this part.

Penn: No Interest in Running for Office......because he's still learning how to spell office? Once he masters that, he'll consider.

Even at his worst Pacino has more charsima then Penn ever could ever muster. His 'Mystic River' Oscar was very generous considering how mannered and fakey he was there.

If I keep up this personal boycott of moonbat actors, I'll soon be left with nothing to watch but ESPN boxing, classic films, and Japanese horror movies.
Wait. I find I don't mind.
To: Hi Heels
It's not a San Francisco Chronicle story. It's from the Associated Press.
