What was that about being polite? You are reacting with emotions only to this issue. Q: Why not address the valid points that I countered with? A: You can't because you have no interest in actually having an intellectual conversation about the issue, you would prefer to be emotional.

You are no different than the anti-Iraq war contingent. Both think that economic advancement and steps towards true democracy are not worthy of another culture. You would prefer that an entire population continue to live in third world squalor.

"Unfortunately, this will hurt the drug stores because generic drugs historically have had a higher profit margin than branded drugs."

- It's just a guess on my part but I suspect the real target of the Wal Mart move are those municipalities, especially in California, which have been denying Wal Mart permission to build stores within their jurisdictions.
Let the local politicians explain to their voters why they cannot take advantage of cheap prescriptions locally.

That dog won't hunt.

I suggest that you and your friends just gather up your torches and pitchforks and go burn down your neighborhood Walmart.

Unfortunately, this will hurt the drug stores because generic drugs historically have had a higher profit margin than branded drugs.

Even at $4 per prescription, Wal-Mart will most likely make a handsome profit as generics are marked up with Astronomical Profit Margins. Combine this with Walmart's unmatchable economy of scale, and increased business due to the PR generated and possible spin-offs of impulse shopping while waiting for the prescription to be filled, you have an Rx for sucess.

Walmart now has a 90 day supply for $10. Only saves $2 dollars but sure saves standing at the pharmacy each month. Other companies are following suit with the Generic Drug program.... Krogers, HEB, Walgreens, CVS
