Bindi is supposed to be on the special, too, but I haven't seen her in anything except clips from the memorial, so far. What a precious little girl! I am so sad for the whole family.
I am glad to hear that Steve Irwin planned ahead. From his shows, you would not think that death ever crossed his mind...yet Terri says he spoke of it often. Obviously, there was more to Steve Irwin than the enthusiastic passion for animals that he showed the world.
My prayers are with Terri and all of Steve's family and friends.
I agree that the video should not be shown if that is the family's wish, however ........ I don't feel a bit sorry for him,he knew what he was getting into ......... to paraphrase Rush: a tiger is a tiger,a stingray is a stingray, they do what they do
I was happy to hear her say that, too, about the planning of the business so that it would continue.
There have also been more than $1,000,000 just in contributions to Wildlife Warriors, since Steve Irwin died, which will help carry on his legacy.
Here is a link roundup of the Steve Irwin threads on FR:

A good decision.
God Bless her and children.
Very fitting. My heart still breaks for her and the kids. I wish them all well.
I agree that it was/is a stupid and tawdry question to ask - at this time. However, there is one non-revolting reason this issue can be discussed:
At one time, Steve Irwin was quoted as saying (by my memory here) that 'if his death was caused by an animal, and caught on videotape, that it should be shown, so as to show that the animal was merely reacting in defense, and wasn't inherently violent.' Or words to that effect.
But now is not the time to even ask about this issue. If someone carefully asked the same question in a year's time, and referenced Irwin's own quote on the subject, that would be proper - it would be in keeping with the stated wishes of the deceased.

Pictures are already in the supermarket tabloid rags.
I hope they were supplied by Reuters.
Really, bless her heart. It was obvious they were perfect for each other and happy in love. May the good Lord give her strength to raise those kids.
It hasn't been handed over yet, nor has it been destroyed. It can't be. Under Australian law, an inquest will be required into Irwin's death and the tape constitutes evidence. It is, of course, being held under security and hopefully that security is strong enough to prevent the tape being copied and disseminated - but there certainly are risks.
Amen. What a classy lady. What a wonderful understanding of what her mission for the rest of her life must be.
natururalman,
Could you please give us some insight to the Australian interview after it airs? I would appreiate it. I will start a live thread tomorrow evening for the Barbara Walter interview and ping everyone.
Thanks for the ping.
I'm afraid that if I were a betting sort of person that there are already copies of that tape. The police held on to it for all too long, imo. John Stainton should have chained himself to it when he turned it over. If it were me, I would have remained with that tape until the police were satisfied a crime wasn't committed.
Not to mention if any one of the people in the police station had a video phone...
It's heartbreaking what people will do...even at the expense of a grieving family.
I'll try - my old Headmaster, the man who virtually adopted me after my parents died has just passed away, so I'm not entirely sure what I'll be doing over the next few days.
It's great that it won't be released. Something that sickened me at the grocery store the other day. I had paid for the groceries and looked back for some reason. One of the tabloids was trying to brag that they had the Irwin Death Photos. Disgusting!
It's not that simple.
Even though the police are satisfied there was no crime, there's still a very real chance of an inquest, and there is also a Workcover investigation under way - the tape is evidence and it will be months before they can be certain it won't be needed.
