"When they came for the smokers, I was a non smoker so I didn't care.
When they came for the obese, I was not obese so I didn't care.
When they came for the drinkers, I wasn't a drinker so I didn't care.
Then they came for me, and there was nobody left to care."
~Eric Blair 2084
Excellent re-write. That's a keeper! :)
That's the best response I can ever get. THank you. :)
What's the problem?
I see no problem with schools being limited in what can be sold on premises.
Kids are free to go buy what they want at the store, but why should the school be hocking junk food?
It wasn't all that long ago NO VENDING MACHINES were in schools.
I keep trying to tell you people, and I get screamed at.. put your kid in government schools?? YOu won't trust them with your health care, but you'll hand em over your kids 7 or 8 hours a day 9 months of the year? Real brilliant.
I personally have no problem with banning of junk food sales inside or on school grounds, its not the schools responsibility to make sure little susie and johnny spoiled brat can stuff their face with whatever they want during school hours.
oh geez! pat complained last night when i asked him to pick up
another gallon..."we already have a full gallon" he said.
um, how long do you honestly think that will last with 17
and 11 yr old boys??? lol! boys!
Hi, te. I saw this and thought immediately of you.
Soylent Green PING!
:) I grew up with a Dad that was "King of the Puns." Honey, I've heard them all, LOL! ;)
Now that the boys are grown and on their own, I actually WANT a milk cow, LOL! It's different now that I could also use the milk to make butter and cheese versus them just chugging it down!
My husbamd (skinny as a rail) drinks whole milk. And he makes his own eggnog with our farm-fresh eggs and whole milk. And when he's not drinking that, he's drinking chocolate or malted milk. And a gallon or more of ice cream a week. "Mr. Hummingbird Metabolism." No problems with cholesterol, either!
I drink a quart of soymilk every week on my whole-grain cereal and in my coffee as creamer. I hate him. ;)

You know, you make a very compelling point. People here criticise you for this? Well, it won't be me.
I spent YEARS de-programming my kids at the end of each school day. I'm the 'Evil Step-Mom' and did not have a say in my kids attending Publik Screwel, but trust me, I spent a good part of each evening pointing out the bias in their school books and homework assignments. *Bwaaa-Haaa-Haa* My boys were reading Ayn Rand in High School for fun and discussion around the Dinner Table. ;)
We let them get their HS Diplomas and now they're off living constructive lives in and out of (technical) college. I like to think that I had a subversive hand in the productivity of their days. ;)
Roll it in Tang powder and then dip it in melted chocolate: sounds delicious.
Oh, and caramel sauce too.
LOL! Well, at least you included CHOCOLATE! (See tagline.)
cholesterol is very genetic, either you have the good genes or you
don't. weight just adds to the problem if you have the bad genes. :(
pattons mom can eat eggs every day and have no problems at all.
his dad is a true "granola head" and struggles with cholesterol.
my giant boys are 2% kiddos. they couldnt drink cow milk to
save their lives...they cant even choke down whole milk.
homemade eggnog sounds fabulous! :)
That's punny.
Like any parent, you had the biggest influence into what type of education they had, regardless.
I only hope someday I have that same opportunity (to raise a child).
Around here, no vending machines are allowed in the elementary schools. Still, that didn't stop the state legislature from making a law outlawing vending machines in schools (even though it was already the case).
My mom and dad (and brothers and sisters with their kids) have never had to do any deprogramming because we were taught how to deal with different situations if they came up. We were taught that getting an education also was up to us and the effort we put into it. Homework came before TV and friends (though not church and family).
You sound like a wonderful parent and a person with a great sense of humor. :)
Again I don't see a problem with that.
Me neither. The comment was more towards the state legislature passing a law when it was already the case. It's just fine with me that my students don't go to vending machines. Heck, they get enough sugar at home. :)
Thanks. I needed that sense of humor raising three boys! :)
That'll do it every time. :)
