Pulling the mask off now might show desperation. They are the ones that decided to show their true colors. No one forced them to be honest. Why the desperation ? Perhaps they did not expect to lose the Mexican Presidential election. Perhaps their truly do fear their internal Islamic population. Perhaps Putin fears the ability of the exiled Oligarchs to support a coup attempt. Perhaps the loss of Fidel Castro weakens their ability to covertly undermine the US. Perhaps they view Iran now as unstoppable. Perhaps they simple got caught with their hands in the Polonium cookie jar. Lots of possibilities.

Russia showing it's true colors. This is great. Litvinienko's dying words are turning out to be all to true. Putin is completely exposed now.

In a clear sign of growing diplomatic tensions, the Prosecutor-General appeared to link the Litvinenko investigation to the demands by the Kremlin for Britain to hand over Boris Berezovsky, the exiled oligarch, who is one of President Putin’s fiercest critics.

British courts have thrice rejected Russian requests for the extradition of the billionaire businessman, but Mr Chaika said that he expected a fresh application “in the near term” for Mr Berezovsky and for Akhmed Zakayev, the Chechen separatist leader.==

At least those 2 indeed are real enemies of pres Purtin and Russia. First one is just baron-robber teh founder such thing as the "oligarkh mafia". Second one is just terrorist.

I know that Britain didn't give them your passports. Atleast Britain did partially right thing. Those 2 are rightful targets?

I'm not interested in hearing anything from Russia about "rightful targets" until such time as your government co-operates with ours and hands over who is responsible for depositing the polonium in my country. One of the sites where traces were found is less than 50 miles from where I live. As you might appreciate, I'm extremely angry with this lack of co-operation and I have no patience for any demands that Putin might make. Talk to the f***ing hand.

You turn to personal attack?:) It mean that your aurguments run out.

If you speak about "bullism" you should look on yourself first. Remember Serbia(!) the latest example and notice that I didn't count Iraq or Afganistan because I think that both was justified at least partially.

Accually I'm with you on that moment. I'm too thinking that it was very inconsiderated act to put polonium into your country and contaminate her. You has all right to be angry on that. I still think it wasn't russian goverment and it should find and extradite those responsible or next time someone will bring such things to Moscow.

Which is something to remember. We (NATO) played a rather dirty game in that whole incident with a traditional ally of Russia. Kind of like what would happen if Russia bombed Toronto and demanded Quebec be a separate nation.

Doesn't excuse Putin's demands, but it is good to remember that the Cold War thaw was not as warm as we both had hoped.

This has caused a number of disruptions hasn't it? I mean it seems that there something in the news every day about more sites that have been contaminated.

Ok, Putin's regime is not mild on its critics. But calling a former Chechen field commander Akhmad "The Crutch" Zakayev a dissident? Come on, this guy is sought for war crimes including kidnapping and torturing civilians.

I couldn't agree with you more. If Russia doesn't cough up this suspected agent, then I would serve notice on Russia that they can pack their bags and go back to Moscow, close up the embassy and break off relations. It is high time that this be brought to a head and if not, then Britain can do away with the illusion it is a sovereign nation.

It might cause Putin to fall which wouldn't exactly be the end of the world, would it? Who needs another Stalin? This is right out of Stalin's playbook.

This behaviour is outrageous.

Would UK or USA grant the same to Russia if Russia were conducting an analogical investigation? As I understand Russians want the same standard to be applied to them as to the West.

See my tagline.
