Dear Alaska,

Those things not specific to the states are up to the state (singular) to decide.

Please sell stock ... if Burt Rutan can go to the moon ... YOU can drill your state.

You sell stock and we untold millions of Americans will buy ... wayyy more than the gummint AND the oil corp.'s will provide. All we want is independence and less expensive gas ... YOU get the profit.

Sincerely,
knarf

Yes, it's quite strange because the Canadians are supposedly more liberal and green than us.

But at the same time they realize that oil is worth a lot on the global market and they need to cash it in for all its worth.

One thing I do not understand is why are the tree huggers holding our energy policy hostage? Where are they getting their money to pay off the Democrats?

So the Dems have been shouting and screaming for the past six years that we under the thumb of the Mideast oil tyrants whom we buy oil from. So Republicans want to start drilling for proven deposits of oil in the U.S., offshore and in Alaska, which would lessen our dependence on the OPEC gangsters. "Oh no!, we can't do that" say the Dems, "that would wreck the environment". "But we didn't wreck the environment when we built the Alaskan pipeline" reasons Republicans. "Yeah, but we might", say the Dems. Now I ask you ladies and gentlement, how can we argue with "logic" like that?

"Opponents of oil drilling in an Alaskan wildlife refuge are going on the offense after playing defense for a quarter of a century. "

"DEFENSE"!! The opponents of drilling have been on offense throughout the entire debate.

It is real...so you can stop making opinions based on assumptions.

(1) The Stupid Party doesn't own anyone's votes
(2) Not all voters are politically-knowledgable & conservative like us
(3) The GOP failed to connect with this large swath of voters and paid the price.

we know from FReepers themselves, many of whom stated flatly that they were going to stay home and not vote so they could send the Republicans "a message".

Posters on FR are negligible to the overall vote counts. It's the equivalent to being grains of sand on a beach.

Stay-at-home-voters reaping the fruits of their stupidity...

As for those who are trying to denigrate the Conservative base of the party, obviously, an awful lot of Conservatives dutifully held their noses, voted pubbie, and despite that the Dems managed to capture fewer than the normal number of seats in a sixth-year midterm...

IIRC, the norm is to grab TWICE as many seats as they did.

Despite the MSM ballyhoo, theirs was a lackluster performance at best, and you had best better believe they went whole hog with every trick in their little black book to get what they got, from 'October Surprise" scandals about staged e-mails between consenting adults and dirty land deals, to relentless "Macaca"-caca, to the usual "Rock the Vote" of MTV-addled barely eligible voters living in their mom's basements who probably could not have told you who else was running.

Well, in a few heavily targeted districts they brought down Conservative Incumbents by relatively narrow margins, and for the icing on the cake, have (apparently successfully) blamed the conservative base of the Republican Party for the wins.

As propaganda goes, it gets a mere A minus, but the stupidity of those who continue to spew their divisive rhetoric is completely off the grading scale.

Perhaps these are the same people who daily browbeat the rest of us here with the MSM tripe about how only Rudy or McCain could beat Hillary, when about the only requirement to get votes away from her seems to be the absence of a completed death certificate.

THe Republican Party squeaked by the last two POTUS elections by a narrow popular vote margin. I hardly think it can afford to be so callous as to toss out as many of the 36% Conservative vote as it can before the next round.

I'd like to know why the Dims aren't proposing legislation to dismantle all the rigs put up during these six years.

They are. The legislation is being proposed as "windfall profits" taxes and additional extraction taxes. They have been barking about this since EOM showed an annual R.O.I. of HALF that of Coca-Cola.

(Of course, they did not put it that way, they just yabbled about how much money it was without saying how much it takes to make it.)

The resulting smoke and soot will cause great global warming.

Actually, the soot should moderate any global warming caused by the CO2 from the forest fires.

How did the GOP lose 22 million voters

By being a bunch of dumba$$es and not coming through on cmapaign promises and not crushing the dems once they had a majority.

Gee, thanks for letting JimRob and all the posters here know that we are the equivalent of grains of sand on a beach. Unfortunately, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, the NYT and the WaPo, to mention but a few, disagree with you.
