Dear Extremist,
pointing out that the GOP got 22 million votes more in the last national election is not blaming the voters and I have not done so. However,if more voters paid attention like we do, and somehow escaped being propogandized by the leftist media, there would be a lot fewer Democrats in national offices.
The GOP has all the responsibility for getting their collective asses creamed because they are too chicken-shit to take on their most formidable opponent, the traditional broadcast and print media. Until they stop running scared from the media and quit trying to placate the bastards they will always be at a huge disadvantage. You have to stand-up for your beliefs and principles and fight back, not capitulate to keep from getting gingriched. That is why many traditional GOP voters stayed home. The GOP stopped fighting for what their voters believed-in.

Well said.
Tick, I DID live here and had numerous discussions with those promising to sit on their hands in November. Maybe, as a lurker, you missed some of those conversations. I don't have exact numbers, but there were several. Percentage-wise? Who knows? I can ballpark 3% of FReepers and say that's the number. It doesn't make it true and it doesn't make it representative of the total who either voted or didn't.
Natives on slope are super development, made them rich; but it has also impacted in many negative ways. Money has brought drugs, aids, massive social problems to villages; hasn't really been an improvement when they look at bigger picture.
THen you have Native Villages just south of the slope that don't see much of the money; but feel something has affected caribou migration route; what they eat. The anti's work these villages and always find a few that will carry their banner.
Gas has tripled, repubs haven't got it done in 8 years, oil ain't going anywhere. Maybe once she hits 5 bucks a gallon, people will demand it; but not holding my breath.
I'm still waiting for your coherent thought.
It's been a few days, have you come up with anything yet?
That's what I get for posting during football games, mean posts to myself.
Not necessarily. Black carbon aerosols absorb heat. The link below is getting a little dated (I've quoted it here on FR numerous times), but it describes the impact of black carbon aerosols. Plus, light deposition of soot on ice/snow accelerates melting.
Global warming in the 21st century - an alternative scenario A PDF (actually from PNAS, too!)
"Black carbon reduces aerosol albedo, causes a semidirect reduction of cloud cover, and reduces cloud particle albedo. All of these effects cause warming. Conceivably a reduction of climate forcing by 0.5 Wym2 or more could be obtained by reducing black carbon emissions from diesel fuel and coal. This reduction might become easier in the future, with more energy provided via electricity grids from power plants (43). But a quantitative understanding of the role of absorbing aerosol in climate change is required to formulate reliable policy recommendations."
