Road users do pay for the infrastructure. You are parroting the communist party line with your argument.

"considering the damage to mental health, field, stream and air, and national security caused by mass use of automobiles."

WTH you think 4000 miles of additional roadways is going to do? Did you read the article? Yourpost is very contradictory and .......uh....let's say ....from a Socialist point of view.

"Unfortunately, most of the public is not aware enough to see something like this."

That's why there are threads like these and groups across the state that ARE aware and don't have short memories. We have to stop these Pols and their corporate buddies before the damage is done.

*We the People* still have the powers granted to us. We sometimes forget how to use them.

This article doesn't even begin to address the economic death of rural Texas towns and counties when the cash flow on which they now depend is flushed right through their area via a no-exit, for-profit "pipeline". Might as well put all interstate traffic on airplanes and fly it right over their heads...

Thanks for the ping, TSR! This is one of the most comprehensive and balanced articles on the TTC that I've seen yet...

FYI--California released their final "GOODS MOVEMENT ACTION PLAN" yesterday.

Go here for the start page or directly here for the 155 page report. (PDF)

Among other things, we'll have a brand new fandangled border crossing at Otay Mesa to facilitate trade. Lots to gag at in here, including what they refer to as the "3 E's":

GoCalifornia vision statement:

“California has a safe, sustainable, world-class transportation system that provides for the mobility and accessibility of people, goods, services, and information through an integrated, multimodal network that is developed through collaboration and achieves a Prosperous Economy, a Quality Environment, and Social Equity.”

Prosperous Economy, a Quality Environment, and Social Equity.”

This is governor Arnold in a nutshell, the Austrian SOCIALIST. The nutshell of the World Socialist party who coined this little slogan as a way of promoting their freedom stealing political agenda.

Sunne Wright McPeak also used this phrase while promoting her communist inspired housing, jobs and transportation initiatives called 'smart growth' or 'not dumb growth' when people started catching on to her agenda.

I thought you might have some tidbit to add to that, Thanks! I wasn't familiar with McPeak before Arnold appointed her.

I've only scanned that report but there is a table at the end showing 6 projects that are being considered for public private partnerships. Oakland, Long Beach, and Los Angeles ports are on the list, along with the Desmond bridge at the Long Beach port.

Another one, from McPeak, I assume:
This Goods Movement Action Plan presents a Framework for Action that includes principles, criteria, metrics, and benchmarks for actions to improve infrastructure, to mitigate public health and environmental impacts, to mitigate community impacts, to develop jobs, and to improve public security and safety. ...

The overarching themes behind the principles for this plan are:

• Considering the four port-to-border corridors as one integrated system.

• Undertaking simultaneous and continuous improvement in infrastructure and public health and environmental impact mitigation and community impact mitigation.

• Pursuing excellence through technology, efficiency, and workforce development.

• Developing partnerships to advance goals.

• Promoting trust, providing for meaningful public participation, and ensuring environmental justice consistent with state law.

It sounded mostly critical of the TTC, and that is understandable. If they don't try to build overpasses or underpasses for every paved road crossing the ROW, they're gonna rue the day they implement this road.

As far as exits go, it would probably be something like the Pennsylvania Turnpike or Florida's Turnpike (low exit density except near urban areas). The problem is the low overpass density. In contrast, the Pennsylvania Turnpike, which I've driven on, has numerous overpasses. The TTC better have numerous FREE overpasses, likewise, or else the sponsors of HB 3588 will be out on their asses.

Mentally insufficient, for sure!

I was reading more of the California "Goods Movement" plan. Have you seen this "Green Corridor" thing before?

You betcha!

I didn't want to trash up your thread with California stuff and ping a bunch of Californians to this. I just snipped that out of the PDF file for when I find some news-article discussing the new plan. I'll post it then.

I've only read a few of your TTC threads but it seems California will be following in their footsteps.

It's about time road users were required to pay for the use of infrastructure the way the railroads do.

You mean like Amtrak?

If there were a bullet train in the US, you can bet that guns would be prohibited. Just like on planes.

Apparently it's for our corrupt government officials, because they are forcing it on the American people in every state.
