"...or has a clue how to keep the American dream going."

Seeing as how Obama is democrat, I'll make a wild guess and say that he doesn't have the slightest idea of what the original American dream is or how to keep it going.

I'd even guess that if we pinned Obama in a corner with a jackass and refused to let him up until he answered the question "What is the American dream?' he'd throw some elements of the welfare state into his answer and might sprinkle in a few quotes from Mao and Lenin and Jesse.

I ask again, why is it that a person born to one black parent and one white parent is always black? Who makes that decisions. "Yes, doctor, I want to designate my child as male and of a race to be determined at a later date."

The one drop rule has always been the social custom in this country, and during Jim Crow someone who was half black would have been subject to the same restrictions as those who were 100% black. Homer Plessy, of Plessy v. Ferguson, the case which allowed for Jim Crow, was only 1/8th black.

Keep in mind until recently, a half black/half white child would be typically disowned by his or her white relatives, so calling the child black was a no-brainer.

"nor has he lived the life of a black American."

Nor have all black Americans lived the same life.

I would agree with you but the majority of black kids are raised by a mother. Maybe that influenced her thinking.

Seems like you're paraphrasing Martin Luther King Jr. Now there was quite a man, unlike his supposed followers (Jesse Jack@ss and Al Simpleton)

Okay, so what exactly are the parameters of "black"?

I understand. My point is, this is 2007. Shouldn't we acknowledge that such concepts are archaic? If I were talking to a liberal I would say, "I thought we were supposed to get away from such pejorative and arbitrary terms -- Mister Obama is as much white as he is black. You are being a racist."

Hehehehehehehehehe. Try THAT in your next conversation with a lib.

And Stanley Crouch has? The notion that in this day and age there's one black experience is absurd. It's stereotyping at its most base.

I don't care what color he is. He's a socialist Democrat engaged in class warfare. Socialism is the enemy of capitalism and freedom.

It is changing but it will take time as more and more people are born biracial and it becomes no big deal. Obama was born in 1961, when it still was a big deal for a white woman to marry a black man and raise a half-black child. Back then, interracial marriage were illegal in many states.

A key point- if his father was a black American, I wouldn't be any more likely to vote for him. His ancestry (which he has no control over) should not be an issue, only his political beliefs and character.

You guys are going to make me go back to that thread where the guy serves meatballs cooked in his own fat and puts goldfish in a blender.

For demographic purposes, it would seem that the one-drop rule still prevails.

I don't care what color Obama is, what I do care about is that both his father and his stepfather were Muslims, and that Obama attended an Islamic madrassa in Indonesia for at least two years. That makes him an apostate Muslim.

Will Obama renounce the Islamic rule of apostasy?

New York Daily News, eh? Hillary's hit squad has materialized earlier than I thought they would. She was on a march to pick up "her" nomination, then Obama showed up. She's got to squelch him early, or risk having to do it in the debates. She knows damn good and well, a lot of black voters will hold it against her, if she trounces a black candidate that was viable.

His momma is white?

Barack Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to Barack Hussein Obama Sr., who was from Kenya, and Ann Dunham, born in Wichita, Kansas. His mother is Caucasian.

Yeah, I was wondering about this last night. Said to Mrs. GRRRRR...OsamaBama's Momma is a white lady atheist from Kansas but his first daddy was a black muslim from Kenya and his second daddy was a Thai Guy?...so why does he automatically refer to himself as "BLACK" when exactly 50% of his genetic makeup is "WHITE"...?

I seriesly don't care a whit about his alleged race...he's a Marxist commie liberal and wants to let terrorists kill us after he taxes us all to death.
