I am disgusted at the site of two men kissing.

Did you get disgusted when Bob Hope kissed a guy in one of his movies?

BOYCOTT BOB HOPE MOVIES NOW!

I think the argument on both sides of this are really reaching. It was a commercial with comic value. I saw it as a play on lady and the Tramp. Stay calm people. There are a lot more important things to worry about. I am going to get a Snickers now.

I thought it was one the most humorous advertisements shown durring the Super Bowl. I actually rewound it and had my wife watch it. She thought it was funny, too. Kinda funny to see the Young Earthers and the queers join forces in opposition to this ad.

Methinks Mars' position of labeling the ad as 'anti-gay' is 'anti-metrosexual'. Ergo we must boycott the anti-metrosexual candy company.../sarcasm off

I agree with you.

The ad was a exagerrated(sp?) reaction of two straight guys to an uncomfortable situation.

I really didn't see anything else in it.

I was surprised that the "Nut 'N' Honey" cereal commercial of recent years didn't cause a pc stir.

(Cowboy camp cook is asked what's for grub. Cowboy camp cook replies: "Nut 'N' Honey", and finds himself looking down the barrels of several six shooters.)

anti-gay?

seemed pro homosexual with the characters overcompensating to absurdity.

Advertising departments are just plain stupid, they do not accept that such a bad ad will have an inverse sales effect on their own product. They act as if bad campaigns have no consequence.

I am surprised the media is not picking up on this subject matter fiasco. Last year it was pepsi pushing to become the homosexual soda.

How ironic, the ads were pulled because they were thought to be anti-homosexual.

The message the advertising team that created the ad intended to send undoubtedly was just the opposite. The ad showed two stock Hollywood "redneck" characters (i.e., two lower class white men working under the hood of a car - probably not even an import!) inadvertently kissing after one starts eating the Snickers bar the other one has in his mouth. Once they start kissing, the two men act like low-IQ morons, ripping off their chest hair to prove they aren't homosexual.

The underlying message for this old schtick, which has been done a million times in movies and sitcoms (for example, men caught up in the moment and hugging each other, then immediately backing away to prove they are not homosexual), is that people who purport to be disgusted by homosexual behavior are morons.

The commercial was lame and cliched and just not funny, even apart from not being appropriate for a game lots of kids watch, and for that reason alone Mars should have gotten a refund for the huge sum it paid its advertising agency.

Did you see the ad? It was hardly an advertisement for gays, in fact, it was the opposite, and very funny.

In short, we watched right up until the gag factor kicked in and we were reaching for the remote. This happened as soon as we realized what was going to happen. The (young) kids were in the room and it became a mad scramble for the control. We didn't make it, but still changed the channel. So no, we didn't feel there was any redeeming value after the first 10 seconds or so. And no, I didn't trust them any further to conclude on any note that would be a positive message. Most likely that's because they hit the bottom so fast.

So much for family viewing for the superbowl. I won't be eating another "snickers". I don't want to have to explain this stuff to 7 and 9 YO's.
