The only one I have seen him do well on is at FR. He is another quixotic candidate like Keyes.
Giuliani is already being attacked. Just look at 50 percent of the threads on FR.
And I am a little confused by Daniels' early (and seemingly pointless) endorsement, too.
Luis Gonzales made a great comment on another thread:
"Politics however is all about pragmatism, and when value is calculated by obvious practical results, then one HAS to face the fact that the GOP nominee will most likely be Rudy Giuliani - because the GOP is trying to win an election and they see in Rudy the greatest possibility of achieving that result.
I know that will whip some folks here into a real frenzy, but I have to concur with a very realistic statement.
Can we assume the candidate list above is complete?
The Hawkeye Cauci are in eleven months. I wouldn't say polls at this point are useless.
No way this early.
I think Gramm is probably backing him for the same reason.
I think these endorsements were asked for by McCain and made public to take some wind out of that large lead by Guiliani.
And yes, you are quite right that Guiliani has been getting a lot of attacks here. It reminds me of how people were attacking Bush in 2000. (THAT will also set a lot of people off, but it is the truth.)
Myself, I am not interested in much except winning the war and keeping taxes low. The rest of the stuff will sort itself out. I do not have a favorite yet, although I do keep track of the type of supporters attracted to each candidate here on FR. It sort of gives me a clue on the candidates.
I think that this is every bit as astute as Luis' statement.
Buchanan and Keyes come to mind...
No kidding!
Newt is the only Candidate who is saying anything substantive.
Newt is not yet a candidate.
The conspiratorial side of me thinks Giuliani is in this race only to make someone like Romney appear conservative enough to secure the GOP nomination.
A Hillary/Gingrich race is being polled by Rasmussen - 50/43 Hillary right now. not too bad.
Rudy loves a battle. imagine the insanity of him even thinking he could be elected Mayor of NYC, and then losing the race once, only to stay on the horse and go after it again.
He is also not a non-candidate.
No doubt about it. The more people hear what Newt says, and how he says it..... you can't help but think.... "this guy needs to be president"
Pay attention to what Newt is doing with "American Solutions". This has great appeal to EVERYONE.
Please don't start with the conspiracy theories! I have enough trouble following this without that stuff! LOL!
Kerry was at 11%.
At this point in the process, we should be talking about ideas, IMO.
My worry with that is that Newt had his name drug through the mud so much in years past, and that is all that the generally clueless masses will remember during the campaigns (no doubt thanks to the media).
I did check to see, I looked in keyword Rudy and searched for Rasmussen, but found nothing.
