"it will still require some land owner to sell some of his precious acreage, whether he wants to or not."

Can you blame people for not wanting to sell or have taken away the land they and their ancestors have cultivated (to provide you and I with food and clothing) for hundreds of years?

"Any solution will have objections and every objection has a cause."

Thank God We live in a country where We have that option! Like the article says, the concern most people have is related to the business dealings with foreign companies and the states secretive deals outside the view of the public. Even the Senators and Reps in the Legislature said they didn't really know what was going on.

NO. But it has been going on since the existence of private ownership of land and it will continue. Once politicians were given the authority to tax the value of land, we pretty well ceded permanent ownership.

That is a bogus scare tactic. Who knows who owns what. Many "American" companies are totally or partially foreign owned and most people don't know the difference. Foreigners invest for the same reasons Americans do. The alternative, of course, is higher taxes. Will anybody be against that? Everybody buys cheaper foreign made products and cities and states bid for foreign plants. What is the difference.

You ever heard of the Boston Tea Party? Texans, not the whiners or the apathetic, are own the verge of taking back the power originally given to them. The Legislature is becoming quite aware of the peoples (voters) anger. They too are questioning the secretive tactics being used by the Governor and his buddies. If these guys want to keep their jobs, they had better remember who their bosses and employers are.
