“But I did send money to both Blackwell and Mike Steele last year. They are both very impressive men, and the Republican Party at all levels is foolish not to pull out all the stops in supporting such worthy individuals.”

Blackwell is the real deal. I’ve lived in Cincy when he was on City Council, and lived here in Ohio as he served in other elective offices. He’s pro growth, wanted to cut the excessive taxes Taft brought down on small biz owners like myself, and 100% pro CCW - something Taft claimed he supported by veto’d TWICE.

If he runs for office again here, I’ll vote for him again, in short. I think he would be a great addition to any GOP Whitehouse down the road.

I know of Glenn Steele, and I was impressed by him, but don’t have the level of knowledge about him that I have with Blackwell.

The only thing keeping the dems afloat is the fact that Republicans aren't more aggressive.

The Republicans have a golden opportunity to dominate the two-party system for years to come, but they have to return to their conservative principles. Reagan showed them the way, they just need to embrace his philosophy and proudly shout from the rooftops their core beliefs.

That's all it takes, and the dems would fold like the cheap house of cards they are.

What do you think about the prospect of Fred Thompson running for pres?

I don't have any real problem with Thompson, so if he gets in the race it could pull the party towards a solid conservative platform.

My own preference at this point is a Romney/Hunter ticket, but it's still very early.

I fail to see the logic behind rehiring employees that refuse to do the work assigned to them. Only fools do that.

I like your choices as well, but I have to see how Romney plays out to the Christian conservatives. I dunno, but I guess you’re right, it’s early yet.

You mean Michael, right?

I just heard he's signed on as a political analyst for the Fox News Channel. I thinks that's a good move for him, gives him a national audience and keeps him before the public. Could be quite helpful if he decides to seek office in the future.

It's a good point.I think the Mormon thing could turn off some Christian conservative women voters.

The Iraqi government has already approved a new oil law. In a free society, progress is often measured in inches. A dictatorship looks efficient because of the absence of the need to muster consensus. I value freedom over efficiency even if that does not meet the needs of politicians here at home.

I googled Glenn Steele, and some all-American Football player from Michigan popped up!!!

Now I know no self-respecting Buckeye fan could think much of that! LOL!

Great truth!!! Free societies can be plodding, but there is never going to be a better alternative.

To bad so many American pols lack the necessary patience required to give freedom a chance.

If it eventually helps my Bengals, I’m okay with it...

The middle fifth just demand easy complete and effortless victory, and will keep calling new plays until they get it. They see no reason for American to die to help ungrateful Iraqis to be free. They supported Bush when it all looked easy and successful, and wrote the whole thing off as a lost cause as soon as that didn't pan out.

The American people didn't get to the top of the world heap by being undemanding. But they aren't perfectly farsighted and our enemies have adapted to their short suit (patience...)
