A.K.A. “Little Hillary”
Kathleen has no horse sense when it comes to PR.
Yes she did. That’s where she was spouting off about the so-called National Guard shortages.
Red city cores in Topeka, Wayandotte county (KCKS) and Wichita rule Kansas Politics don't cha know.
Elimination of federal welfare mandates would go a long way towards reducing the red core areas.
She is a slick politician. That is why she won.
I don’t know what CNN will lead with, but their online articles about Greensburg don’t give much credence to Sebelius’ claims.
http://www.cnn.com/2007/WEATHER/05/08/kansas.weather/index.html
This article reports Mayor Lonnie McCollum’s assessment of the response: “The town will rely heavily on federal aid, said McCollum, adding that he personally witnessed the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s rapid response to the Friday storm. ‘As I broke down my back door to go out, there’s a fireman from Dodge City, Kansas,” McCollum said. “He meets me as I’m digging out of the rubble to see if I’m OK. And almost the next person behind him is somebody from FEMA.’”

This article gives the “Story Highlights” at the top as:
White House press secretary: Guard response was governor’s fault
Snow says governor should have found need then requested guard
Kansas Sen. Brownback says Guard told him they have what’s needed
Kansas Gov. Sebelius had said deployments to Iraq slowed storm response
The only photo accompanying the article is captioned “National Guard equipment moves in to help with cleanup efforts in Greensburg, Kansas, on Monday” and shows a long parade of heavy equipment and vehicles.
The body of the article gives plenty of ink to both sides, but reports Tony Snow’s repeated statements that she hasn’t asked for anything but FM radios, and then reports responses from Sebelius that consist of generalized rambling about expressing concerns to the Pentagon back in December about the need to replace “lost resources”. The article essentially left Snow with the last word on this very key point, since Sebelius’ “response” completely avoided addressing what Snow said.
The term we use down here in Louisiana is "MeeMawed."
Is 0 correct?
Maybe, just maybe, this will open people’s eyes to the lie that is the Katrina narrative.
“No federal help!”
what do you call the Coast guard rescuing 9,000 people (who should have been evacuated by the city and state) in less than three days?
“Federal aid didn’t get through but the Mounties were here!”
Ummmm, the mounties drove one car in over back roads with bridges that can’t support more than 10,000 pound vehicles. The big rigs with the massive aid were stopped because the bridges that could carry them were wiped out.
etcetera, etcetera.
The entire Katrina ‘scandal’ is on the order of Barack Obama’s claim that 10,000 people died in the Greensburg tornado. It was 12 (not 12,000, just 12), by the way.
If the drive by media reports it then you know it’s a lie.
Yes, Kansas is learning a hard lesson to stay away from any liberal white woman. We have one in the state I live in, she took the traditional route of election fraud.
Greensburg is the natural disaster that was just too small for the Democrats liking. They were too quick to pull out the Katrina playbook. Ugly. I’m from rural Kansas, and the idea that you need even 1 piece of National Guard equipment for a town of 1,500 people is a joke. This is hard-core farming country. There are heavy trucks and equipment by the butt-loads in every direction. There are also no more than 2-story buildings anywhere in the area. This is not 911 - this is not Katrina. Unbelieveable that the Dems even went this direction.
What the hell were the people of kansas thinking when they voted in this moron?
I`m watching John Gibson on FoxNews, and he hasn`t said anything about the WCBSTV story. If FoxNews does`nt talk about it, we know damn well the major msm outlets will ignore it.
Crisis Management 101: More Reagan, Less Nagin
Natural disasters are the worst time to play partisan politics. I don't care who you are, what level you are, what party you're in, or how strong it is.
Lead first, there will be plenty of time for finger-pointing later (and you'll have more political capital to do it with).
"Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius said Sunday evening that the states response will likely be hampered because much of the equipment usually positioned around the state to respond to emergencies including tents, trucks and semitrailers is now in Iraq. Not having the National Guard equipment, which used to be positioned in various parts of the state, to bring in immediately is really going to handicap this effort to rebuild, said Sebelius."
I recall what happened to another Governor named Kathleen when she tried that same cheap blame-Bush tactic:
"Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco, whose popularity plummeted after two hurricanes devastated south Louisiana less than halfway through her first term, will not seek re-election, according to a letter written by Blanco and obtained by The Associated Press. "Today, I am announcing that, after much thought and prayer, I have decided not to seek re-election as your governor," Blanco said in the letter, provided by a source in the Democratic Party."
Sadly, many towns and cities elect these types of politicians that are slick talkers who market themselves well.
It’s time America thought seriously about the ACTUAL qualifications of politicians when an a real need for them arises. DON’T VOTE FOR WIMPS THAT TAKE NO REPSONSIBILITY FOR ANYTHING AND BLAME EVERYONE ELSE OR YOU GET WHAT YOU DESERVE!!
Is that Blanco? My memories of Blanco is she was more concerned with Moosing it up, rather than dealing with problem.
