For those who are short on history: The Soviet Union, led by Stalin refused to withdraw from the territories which were taken from German forces at the conclusion of WWII.
Instead, the Soviet Union occupied all the Eastern European countries, except Austria[if someone has an explanation of why the Soviets left Austria alone, I would like to hear it], and installed puppet governments who in turn, set up police states similar to the Soviet Union.
Furthermore, Stalin made no bones about an expansionist appetite which included western Europe. The U.S. responded by setting up NATO.
The Soviets were held at bay until the mid-1950’s due to a lack of nuclear capability and the devastation to the Soviet military capability during the war. It didn’t stop him from supporting the North Koreans until his death in March of 1953.
The left in this country always concluded that the resulting build up of nuclear arsenals was partially the fault of the U.S. Some would even contend that it was primarily the fault of the U.S.
Pravda? I thought this was from the New York Times.
Well said. What a load of bs this article is. Yikes.
LOL. Yeah. Do they really think anyone will believe this nonsense.
Was it not in fact simply a change in branding, equivalent to a concept created in the marketing department of Coca Cola during the Cola Wars with Pepsi.
The priceless part is that the bastards of Marx and Lenin remain blind to the transparency of their motives.
While the American left--like flies--remain loyal to the horse's rump, though the tail swings this way and that.
“Warsaw Pact saved the world from nuclear world war”
“Al Capone saved Chicago from Gangsters”
His very first war plan drawn up in 1949, proposed delivering, "the entire stockpile of atomic bombs in a single massive attack." That meant dropping 133 A-bombs on 70 cities within 30 days. He argued that, "if you are going to use military force, then you ought to use overwhelming military force. Use too much and deliberately use too much.. youll save lives, not only your own, but the enemy's too."
"My solution to the problem would be to tell them frankly that theyve got to draw in their horns and stop their aggression, or were going to bomb them back into the Stone Age."
Yes, they did. On July 1, 1991 they disolved the Warsaw Pact, thus saving us all from world war, communism, and oppression. If they had stayed intact....
All I can say is - unf**kingbelievable.
