TB is more communicable when coughed out as an aerosol then breathed into the lungs of someone else

POS is right. I really want to know more about this selfish self-centered POS

It looks like another case of this:

“I see pictures in the post office of most-wanted fugitives. My question is why didn’t they hang onto this guy when they took his picture?”

Why did CDC let this guy leave Atlanta in the first place? They told him not to fly, which he did anyway.

They thought he'd act like a responsible adult, rather than having to use Gestapo tactics. Of course, now they feel they have justification to go medieval on all of us, now.

He lived in Georgia. Per local Atlanta news.

But Georgia is a big place, with lots of localities. Lots of different neighborhoods within the cities as well. Now I understand that he's fairly well to do. That, and the fact that his now wife does not have it, yet anyway, makes the question of where *he* contracted the XDR TB even more interesting and important.

“I’m a very well-educated, successful, intelligent person,” he told the paper. “This is insane to me that I have an armed guard outside my door when I’ve cooperated with everything other than the whole solitary-confinement-in-Italy thing.”

Well educated, maybe, successful, I guess, but intelligent?

NOT!

Couldn't prove it by his actions.

It's not like he couldn't have gotten hitched in his isolation ward. He didn't need to endanger all the people on the two flights, and likely on trains, or other public transit, as well as restaurants and such in half of Europe, not to mention any guests at the wedding. But his Big Fat European Wedding was more important.

I’m confused....how can you get this from breathing the same air, but not by kissing?

I had the same question. Maybe not by a little peck on the cheek, or a '50s style TV kiss, but a real kiss with your honey, or facsimile thereof, (shudder)?

They did not know that he had this form until later. Last night they were saying until he returned. This morning they said that they notified him in Italy. The rep from CDC yesterday said that they advised him not to travel, but he presented compelling reasons. They gave him permission, but didn’t know that he had the contagious form.

He’s real smart and clever alright. He was craft enough to figure how to get into the United States by flying into Canada and crossing from there. Thereby disobeying the CDC. I’d throw him in jail. When he recovers.

The taxpayers will pay millions for this shit head’s hospital bills so he’s willing to take from the public but not to keep the public safe. His wedding was more important. Which woman is stupid enough to marry when someone has active tuberculosis?

Other accounts say differently. That the CDC said he shouldn't fly at all and thought he agreed not to.
He flew into Montreal to evade CDC orders not to fly back here. So don't trust other things he says

They let thousands of illegals cross the border each year with TB and other nasty diseases such as cholera, diphtheria, plague, leprosy, malaria, and viral hemorrhagic fevers.

That was my thought, too. Very hypocritical of them.

Anecdotal...

Years ago, my mom went to a garden club party at a local resident's home.

The next day, the hostess found out she had active TB.

My mom and all the other women were given Gamma Globulin injections.

When I was in 5th grade, a kid in my class (from the poor side of town)

..came down with Infectious Hepatitis...

..the whole class had to get injections.

From NY Times:
The Fulton County health department in Atlanta met with the man and his family on May 10, two days before he flew to Paris, and told them that he should not travel because he had multi-resistant tuberculosis, the disease agency said. No legal order was issued at the time, Dr. Cetron said in referring further questions to the Fulton County health department.

TB is no joke, you endanger others, but this smart Alec didn’t care. He flew when he was told not to

One more thing...

Supposedly he was told not to fly.

But I haven't heard a word about this ticking time bomb being told not to walk the streets of Atlanta, with his drug resistant disease???

Have you?

TB Passenger Flight Itinerary
Wednesday, May 30, 2007

May 14, 2007 — Atlanta, Ga. to Paris, France — Air France Flight 385/ Delta Flight 8517

May 14, 2007 — Paris, France to Athens, Greece — Air France Flight 1232

May 16, 2007 — Athens, Greece to Thira Island, Greece — Olympic Air Flight 560

May 21, 2007 — Mykonos Island, Greece to Athens, Greece — Olympic Air Flight 655

May 21, 2007 — Athens, Greece to Rome, Italy — Olympic Air Flight 239

May 24, 2007 — Rome, Italy to Prague, Czech Republic — Czech Air Flight 0727

May 24, 2007 — Prague, Czech Republic to Montreal, Canada — Czech Air Flight 0104

I understand that according to Georgia officials, the man left early on this trip, even though he was advised not to go. In Italy, he was contacted by a doctor and was told that a medical transport plane was being provided for his return trip. He was advised that he was on the no-fly list, which is why he flew into Montreal and snuck back into the U.S.

Odd behavior, to say the least...sounds criminal to me. TB man was provided masks by the health officials in Georgia...no word on whether he wore them, (I’m betting he didn’t).

Originally, the public was told that only the passengers in the 2 rows in front, next to and behind, were being contacted...this went from being nothing (according to authorities),to being, well...something quite serious.
