“Would you like to google my kitty?”

“Sure, if you move that damn cat out of the way.”

(Thanks, Johnny Carson)

Are they talking about Google Earth, or Google Maps?

Anyway, some areas have higher resolution coverage than others. The part of town that I live in is fuzzy, so more or less useless.

Some of the national parks and more exotic wild areas are very high resolution - Grand Canyon and the like, it’s just awesome to be able to find *campsites* in the wilderness areas. Great for finding 4WD roads that aren’t marked or a bit cryptic.

It didn’t work with my dial up, but that is kind of creepy. At least they aren’t live pictures, though. I guess there really is no true privacy anymore. Anyone can look up your house with photos online.

I guess there really is no true privacy anymore. Anyone can look up your house with photos online.

These street level photos were taken over the past couple of years by Google-owned or contractor-owned vans possessing panoramic cameras. There's nothing in any of the photos that violates yours or anyone else's privacy any more than what people see just driving or walking by your residence or business. There is no violation of privacy here.

I guess you are right. It just creeps me out a bit how easy it is for someone to find a picture of your house on the internet.

My upper east side building was obviously photographed recently. A leetle creepy.

On the bright side, with the New York pictures, they apparently used a slow shutter speed and couldn’t slow down enough to get really clear pictures.

Thanks but I use Opera but I fixed the problem. A corrupt earlier version 8.6? I had to uninstall and do a complete download instead of the update.

Looks like they have a big job ahead of them as there were only a few cities and only select areas within those cities with street view (San Fran, NYC, Denver, Miami etc.).

OK, I see the anti-Bush/Blair sign (I have to pan out and down as well as around to see it). One thing the page seems to be lacking is some kind of indicator of which direction the street camera is pointing. They ought to put a turning arrow on the main map.

I had the same problem with IE. I ended up downloading FF and it works smoothly. I will look into Opera, Thanks.
