“I did my job and he paid me. The sexual harrassment was free. It gave me something to laugh about. “

It sounds like he wasn’t threatening. In this case, and in a lot of other cases, there are threats implied. This woman’s boss allegedly said “If you won’t take it the good way, then it will be the bad way,”. Then the company fired her when she complained.

That’s a little bit different.

“Give up your @ss or your job” isn’t fair.

I don’t know.. I think there’s a lot to be said for holding people accountable for their behavior.

Most sexual harrassment lawsuits are bogus. People lie about the effect it had on them and they lie about what really happened.

That is the problem with lawsuits. People lie.

They should call them liesuits.

That is common law intentional infliction of emotional stress. It is also grounds for wrongful termination, but the problem is that as an illegal alien, she can't show economic damages, since she can't legally get another job.

You're right, people should be held accountable for their behavior. Her boss should be fired and she should be deported.

the worst thing about illegal immigration is that we have been inundated with millions of people who have no patriotic or historical ties to our distinct American culture and they have taken over our schools and our public facilities and they are literally in one generation transforming this great country into a potential third world bannana republic.

This was said before about Italians and Irish - now American culture has been thoroughly infused with Irish and Italian culture - to the point that the prototypical American food (pizza) is Italian in origin.

More significantly, however, second-generation Hispanics are as American as you or I. There were several Hispanics who graduated grad school with me. They value liberty and opportunity as much as you or I. McCain said it well in the debates two days ago - look on the Vietnam memorial, or any other war memorial. There's a lot of Hispanic names who fought in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Many of them were not even American citizens when they enlisted.

These people are not simply doing jobs Americans won't do. They are bringing down the wages so that legitimate Americans can no longer afford to do those jobs.

One of the reasons this works is that illegal immigrants can't assert their labor rights for fear of being found out and deported. Illegal day laborers are not infrequently stiffed on their wages. Undocumented women are among the most targeted groups for sexual assaults, since they are often afraid to seek help from law enforcement.

The tragedy of illegal immigration is that you have decent, hard-working folks who are unable to find any other means out of poverty, so they endure coyotes to work their tails off for next to no money (since poverty in America beats starvation in Mexico). Because they fear being sent back to the abject starvation from which they fled, they are open to being taken advantage of by hucksters, cheats, rapists, and other evil people.

Now I could not get any one of those jobs because I am not qualified. Do you want to know why? BECAUSE I CAN'T SPEAK SPANISH!

I can speak some Spanish (5 years of high school/college classes) - but I couldn't get one of those jobs either - but I couldn't get a job as a cashier or fast-food worker. I tried when I was working an unpaid internship in grad school. The manager took one look at my application and asked me, "Why are you applying here? You're over-qualified."

I could care less if 99% of the population was of hispanic origin. The problem is that right now it is estimated that as high as 85% of the adult Hispanic Community in the US entered the country illegally. We have laws in place and I absolutely refuse to be called a bigot for demanding that they be enforced. Your post suggests that my reason for being upset about the current situation is because I am a bigot. That may not have been your intention, but your post drips with the accusation.

We are letting the Hatians and Africans starve to death or be slaughtered by Muslims. If anyone "deserves" to be able to escape poverty it is those people. Right now probably 80% of the world's population would give their right eyes to come to the United States and become Americans. By your logic we should fly them all here and take care of them and give them those "jobs that Americans won't do."

Spit.

I think I read that 40% of the highest paid executives for McDonalds and other fast food chains started as cooks and cashiers. The current president of Wal Mart started as a stock clerk at Wal Mart.

The fact is that if you are willing to work hard at one of the jobs that Americans won't do, the chances are you will move up the corporate ladder faster than you can at any corporation that has a snooty personnel department that only accepts graduates from the right schools.

How about holding illegal aliens accountable?.

That's not compassionate.
