One of the letters to the editor linked the original article. Apparently, Mr. Dicks talked about environmentalism and how we have to “save the planet” from the destructive forces of man. It seems that even in Seattle, the envirowhackoism preached by the Goracle so widely accepted in DC doesn’t sell.

The first thread I posted on FR back in the X42 days, referenced Norm Dicks and a fellow congresscritter meeting at the White House. The thread is long gone, but the title created a bit of humorous responses.

The title... “Cox and Dicks meet at the White House”

Everyone is missing an amazing point here, Normy, who is a UW grad, never had a real job, ICONIC reputation in his district, has a government building named for him in his hometown, known as a guy who BRINGS HOME THE BACON for Fort Lewis and Sub-base Bangor is a die hard liberal in a decidedly blue state was booed by students at one of the most liberal schools in the nation for pushing radical enviro-nazi nonsense. There’s hope for us yet, folks. This was way cool.

Lucky me, I got to eat lunch with him.

As if your time in Iraq weren't sacrifice enough, you had to sit and listen to this jerk?!? Our military is not only brave, courageous, honorable, intelligent, and strong, but also infinitely patient. We thank you for your service, and may God bless you and and all our courageous men and women in uniform. We pray for your safety, and for the success of your mission.

Never could I democrat have imagined a democrat commencement speaker at a major democrat university being booed and heckled while democrat speaking to the graduates. Then again, I democrat could never have imagined anyone democrat giving such a self-serving, self-glorification democrat speech as he did. — Brian K. Garrett, Marysville

crowd was not receptive to his pompous, political puff piece and instead opted to jeer, stomp their feet and walk out

Clearly there is a great deal lacking in their "education."

What did they expect from a hard left dem? Me thinks the reporter left out the really bad parts, but here is the money shot:

Dicks told students he was inspired by a young John F. Kennedy, who "challenged my generation with the words: 'Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.'

"Those were the clarion calls for young people throughout the nation in the early 1960s, inspiring many to consider public service."

First elected to Congress in 1976, Dicks serves on appropriations subcommittees in defense, the environment and the military. As his speech bored in on environmental concerns — cleanup of Puget Sound, global warming, the planet at risk — the crowd grew increasingly restless.

"The charge for your generation is to combine the technical knowledge you learned here ... as well as a sense of environmental stewardship to make the Puget Sound a national model," he told the students.

"... Your ideas and your determination will ultimately determine the environmental legacy you will leave to your kids and their kids."

From the back, Lance Charette, who flew from Indiana to watch his stepdaughter Laura Wright graduate with a degree in English, yelled something about this being a graduation, not a political gathering.

Later, he said he thought Dicks was campaigning, not inspiring young peop

And we conducted hearings to assess the impact of climate change on public lands and wildlife in the United States … and the evidence was sobering: we see increased wildfires, changing precipitation and water availability patterns, increasing evidence of invasive species, severe bug infestation in our forests, changing migratory patterns for many animals and birds, and significant loss of habitat. It’s just not possible, anymore, to deny that climate change is real

As usual, science by anecdote.

Some may not be aware of exactly how far to the Left the UW is....it was the first school in the entire nation to offer an accredited degree program in "Women's Studies"....as a result, it's become the Mecca for all of the militant-feminists who want the title of "Doctor Bi***" and the associated sheepskin to hang on the wall of their Soho loft "practice".

It's one of the reasons why Seattle is infested with militant lesbo / feminiazis.

Nancy “None of your business” Pelosi ran on it too—look where it got her.

No, we need ACTION. That alone will put one party or another (not necessarily “the” other) in the electorate’s good graces.
