""I've never felt so offended in all my life. I felt like i had been physically abused and neglected. I was forced to sit next to human excrement for seven hours," said Brock." Ah-hahahahaha!!

Be thankful you don’t have a job that requires lots of it.

"I've never felt so offended in all my life. I felt like I had been physically abused and neglected. I was forced to sit next to human excrement for seven hours,"...And then I left the NYT newsroom and boarded this flight. I just can't win.

The original flight from Amsterdam to Newark had toilet problems and had to land in Ireland for repairs. They were stuck there overnight, then left Ireland the next day. On that second flight they had more problems soon after take off but they refused to turn around and go back to Ireland. There is no way that they were "high over the Atlantic" which implies that they were about halfway across.
Sure, problems can happen and if you are halfway across there is nothing you can do but continue onward, but there is no way that plane should have continued the flight when they had problems soon after takeoff. Just line up the lawyers because Continental flew an obviously unhealthy flight when they had the option of turning around.

Well, this story sure is good for a laugh (unless you were on it), but it does have more serious implications. If Continental is neglecting maintenance on their bathrooms, what else are they neglecting to maintain. Engines? Landing gear? Navigation systems?
Regardless, I probably won’t be flying with them anytime soon.

By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to plunge a toilet?

Yes the the incident is vile and disgusting, but saying you were "abused and neglected" sounds like a big look-at-me-I'm-a-victim crybaby.

Bet the passensgers wished that they had left that baggage at home.
To: KarlInOhio
Thanks for the clarification. 7 hours ought to get you from Europe to Newark, so the 7 hours high over the Atlantic didn’t make sense.
That does raise another point, however. How did the toilets overflow so quickly into the flight. Most folks don’t hit the plane and run to the toilets.

My thoughts exactly. How long before the lawyers begin? Western society is so frivolous and decadent. Brock in the article is almost a poster-boy for what's wrong with our wealthy, self-indulgent, bored, tunnel-vision society.
It's no wonder the Muslims think we are low-hanging fruit ready to be picked. They may well be right.

Like, it was any better once they got off the plane???
