I would be very interested to hear any Morman Freeper answer your second question.

He’s not running for President, and also, he is a state level official in a state where it is not politically safe to well attack Mormons. In the Mountain West, Mormons are a protected group, in the rest of the country they are not.

This is not a Romney specific political issue, if Reid ever ran, he’d catch it too, but in a different way. All I am going to say is look at Utah. In general, Georgia came under heavy scrutiny in 1976, and Arkansas came under scrutiny in 1992, due to their negative images. However, in 1976, it was the height of Southern dominance over popular culture and well, all looking at Georgia did was make Jimmy popular with young voters, especially Southern rock fans. In 1992, all highlighting Arkansas did was to show that the state, while ranking low in everything, had actually ranked lower before the 1980’s. If HW had been smart, he would have gone after the fact that the Little Rock bond industry was heavily caught up in S & L, because in ‘92, most of the Arkansas establishment was behind Clinton because they saw a chance to put Arkansas in control of the national government.

Romney is not from Utah, but Utah is going to be an issue because it’s Mormonism’s spiritual hub, and to be quite honest, an election where Utah is focused on would hurt us, because while alot of what people say about Utah is exaggerated, alot of it is true. Other than Louisiana, Utah may be the only other state in the country where the church heirarchy actually exhibits a strong level of control over the governmental apparatus. In Salt Lake City, the recent election trends have been elections that pit Mormon vs. Non-Mormon, with Mormons voting in bloc for someone and everyone else voting in bloc for someone else.

Right or wrong, if Romney is nominated, Utah and Mormonism becomes an issue, and given that the next President will likely have a minimum of at least 1 Supreme Court appointment, it’s too damned dangerous to risk this election to prove some point. We have to go with someone who is not going to have to deal with this for a year.

> Jesus also told people that if you Dont believe Moses, you wouldn’t believe Him, either.

Obviously this is a matter for you to take up with The Boss. He said what He said, and it is over to Him to help you understand what He meant.

Harry Reid is a Mormon, yet there are no attacks on him. Why?

He is not running for President would be my guess.

I come from a line of circuit riders, but the day the preacher started raising funds to ban guns, and build field hospitals for the VC, I waltzed my butt right out the door. Thing is, before you define something as a “cult” best look close to home first.
The secular humanist cult of Karl Marx has taken control of most “mainstream” Christian religion, and is creeping up on the rest.
Enosh, some of us know that you are slicker than a snot coated snake, hang around, just one time, and stop trying to patronize my Redneck arse.

>>Mormons are anti-trinitarian. They deny the sufficiency of the Bible alone as the word of God.

You mean like the fact that the word "Trinity" is nowhere found in the Bible. Many early Christians were atni-trinitarian, Justin Martyr, Origen, Hippolytus etc.

>>They believe that Jehovah had many sons in eternity

Hadn't heard that one before. Perhaps you are mixing up the Mormon belief about Elohim (the Father) and Jehova (pre-mortal Jesus in the OT). Sources?

Hugh Hewwit predicted that faltering opponents would resort to lashing out at Romney's faith months ago in his book "A Mormon in the White House: 10 Things Every American Should Know about Mitt Romney ".

Actually, the majority of those in the polls who will not vote for a Mormon are liberals.

I’m just saying that, as a conservative if I found myself in agreement with the majority of liberals I would really have to look deeply at my belief on the matter.

"some of us know that you are slicker than a snot coated snake"

Why thank you, SS. (Good one!)

"and stop trying to patronize my Redneck arse."

Well, no... I was being sincere in hoping that you merely left one denomination rather than Christianity.

If you became an atheist, I might have to chastise you a little. Hehee...

Lol! You are providing proof! This is exactly the same tactics of the Protocols of Elders! Provide lots of the facts but conveniently distort at every point possible. Use out-dated quotes even if they were never accepted as mainstream and pawn them off as some sort of core belief.

It is really predictable, disgusting and almost laughable from a Mormon’s perspective. I would imagine that a Jew would have similiar feelings if a Muslim started telling the world the truth about Jews.

Um, these are from the Mormon’s own documents, did you get that part?

Just go there and read a while.

Both Joseph Smith, the prophet of Mormonism, and Mohammed were false prophets of the first order.

Says you. The problem is, religion is a topic that informed people disagree about. The question of whether Joseph Smith was a false prophet depends entirely upon your own presuppositions.

I agree 100%. I am not a Romney man, but his religion is off limits amongst people of good taste and rearing. He says he is a Christian and I believe him. End of Story for me.

No, Mormons believe GOD has FLESH AND BLOOD and that SATAN and JESUS are physical brothers from the same mother.

Do you see the difference yet?

Religions that are cults and lead people to eternal damnation are the people’s business.

Enosh, once again this a futile exercise!

A Satanist has an anti-social worldview. A typical Mormon’s political worldview is identical to a typical Evangical worldview. Therefore voting against a Satanist or a true believing Jihadist is justified whereas voting against a Mormon whose worldview is purely bigotry based on a fantasy that God would care. In fact we have evidence that Jesus showed that it is perfectly acceptable to respect those in political postions even if they maybe herectics or heathens.

Then again, I could be mistaken about your motives. Do you wish to go against the Jesus of the New Testament then?

> Would you consider Mr. Anton LaVey’s religion an issue if he were running for president?

No. There would be plenty of other good reasons for disqualifying Mr LaVey as candidate for POTUS. Religion would not play a role in my decision.

Mate, you either believe in your Constitution or you do not. Would you have the same objection to Romney if he were, say, a Jew rather than a Mormon? If so, why? If not, why not?

"A Satanist has an anti-social worldview."

This is a hypothetical.

Were Mr LaVey an otherwise perfect conservative candidate, would you or would you not consider his religion an issue?

If you say "yes", are you a bigot?

If you say "no", are you gullible?

Well here I am a genuine Mormon FReeper to answer your question.

One obvious answer is that putting people to death for such things was under the Mosiac law which was fulfilled with the mission of Jesus. (Surely you knew this already. This is probably why the guys left. They realized you were more interested in playing a dumb "gotcha" game than actually converting, as you lied to them about on your first encounter.

BTW, You "story" doesn't make you look that good when you admit you intentionally lied them. Here are some other OT scripture you may be interested in re-reading - Ye shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie, Lev. 19: 11. I hate and abhor lying, Ps. 119: 163. Lying lips are abomination to the Lord, Prov. 12: 22. They are my people that will not lie, Isa. 63: 8.

And a Book of Mormon scripture just for fun - Wo unto the liar, for he shall be thrust down to hell,

Another, answer is the same reason that it was wrong for those who killed the Apostles, they were not blaspheming but actually telling the turth about their theophany as did Jospeh Smith. He was actually visited by Jesus and ordained an Apostle.

>>>I’ve never met a morman who answered my second question.

Sorry, you won't be able to claim a Mormon never answered you about it again.
