You can’t be deported if you’re not an illegal. She is being deported, therefore she is an illegal. Right?

I suggest you read the whole article instead of making assumption. The reason why she is threatened with deportation is because she voted illegally. She was a legal resident but not a citizen and as such in ineligible to vote

This is not quite true. The parents would have to apply also for the citizenship of the children whao are under the age of 18

If her parents became US citizens before she was 18 years old, then she’s *automatically* a citizen... but she may still have to prove this happened to the Immigration Judge before she avoids deportation.

Not if the didn't apply for her. However they probably thought she would be and therefore never bothered to check it out.

This headline, I suspect, is designed to win support for the amnesty bill. It's sort of like pointing to cases of mistaken executions to win support for banning the death penality alltogether.
