British police are saying that the car bomb was intended to be detonated remotely by mobile phone....and...the Park Lane vehicle is connected to the Haymarket car bomb.

Islamists use whatever will kill. They used explosives in nail-filled knapsacks, remotely detonated, in the Madrid attack. There were no suicide bombers in that one.

My libertarian side is horrified at the idea of 300 pictures/day taken of people. My bloodthirsty side is glad there will be plenty pictures of these lunatics.

How can there be a terror bomb threat.........

Remember, John Edwards claims it’s only a bumper sticker.

Well, if there had been one on that Mercedes, it would have been a incinerated bumper sticker.

Why won’t you answer my question? What is the significance of 07/07/07?

They won't have any trouble finding who is responsible with their Big Brother Video cameras. BTW, the Brits have the finest bomb squad around.

Either:

1) That is the release date of the new Harry Potter book

or

2) That is the anniversary of previous UK bombings.

A possible clue in the coverage is that the bomb was not only near a night-club, and constructed of the propane and nails design we’ve all become familiar with, but was also in front of an American Express office. The new congestion control cameras provide the Brit. police with the equivalent of our convenience store hidden cameras. If the bomb was built inside the inner circle, they’ll be able to locate where it came from within a short distance. Sounds like the Park Lane vehicle was a possible getaway car. P.L.’s just a couple of blocks north of the bomb discovery.

Thanks. I get it now. I just didn’t understand what angelcindy meant by her comments regarding that specific date.

Park Lane has also been closed to traffic due to a suspect vehicle in an underground car park that police believe is connected to the attempted bombing in Haymarket.

Sky News crime correspondent said: “It might be the escape vehicle of the Mercedes driver, or it might be the vehicle of an accomplice, but it is turning into something very significant.”

Fleet Street has also been closed from Fetter Lane to Ludgate Circus after the discovery of another suspect vehicle.

My understanding is it contained gas, nails and propane.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/06/29/terror/main2997517.shtml

From terrorist web site which predicted the bombing:

"Al-Hazeen decries the recent knighthood of controversial author Salman Rushdie as a blow felt by all British Muslims. "This 'honoring' came at a crucial time, a time when the whole nation is reeling from the crusaders attacks on all Muslim lands," he said, in an apparent reference to the British role in Iraq.

Note: This bombing attempt was prompted by the knighting of Salman Rushdie, and it would also serve as a morale boost for the terrorists who are "reeling" (good news, right from the enemy mouth).
