A scene in Tintin in the Congo in which the eponymous hero gave a geography lesson to Africans about Belgium was later changed to a maths class.

Which makes a lot of sense that's not. Africans are totally ignorant about maths while knowing as much about Belgium as someone who comes from there. Right?

The Katzenjammer Kids are more socially relevant than Tintin. I expect to see the Old Sea Captain come up and kick a top hat that has been placed over a big, stout peg in the ground and hurt his foot. Ho, ho, ho! What jolly cutups!

This world bears an ever increasing resemblance to Orwell's worst nightmare.

Pass the Victory Gin, please.

He does kick a brick under a hat on the street in one scene, although it’s identified by Tintin in that scene as being an old, old joke. But hey, if you don’t like Tintin, that’s OK. For me they are a fond rememberance of my childhood, and I still have all my old Tintin books. Actually, I also recently bought the ones that I never had, and enjoyed the heck out of reading them.

Some people have no appreciation for physical humor.

Speaking of Seinfeld, Michael Richard’s pratfalls and entrances are the funniest thing about the show. The situations are just inane. You have to wonder, “are people really that stupid and trite?”

LOL

Because of this, Nsoto is now unable to locate Belgium on a map, but run chi-square on whether AIDS cures from bonking babies are better than the use of rhino horn powder.

I record all the "Cartoon Alley" shows on TNT for my kids. They show old cartoons from the 30s, 40s and 50s.

They showed one where the character goes to Africa to catch the "tiniest pygmie".

Before it aired the host, Ben Mankiewicz, noted that the portrayal of the pygmies would obviously be considered racist by today's standards, particularly the part where he lures the pygmy out of his hut with a watermelon ("I kid you not!" Mankiewicz said.)

Then they showed the cartoon in its entirety. It was pretty bad, but I think TNT was cool for not locking it up and throwing away the key, like it never existed.

Tintin? I’m a Scrooge McDuck fan myself. And some of the original Scrooge stories have been banned or edited because of “racism”, too. (Indians saying “Ugh”, and terrible crimes like that)

There is actually a blurb about this on the official Tintin web site.

I have to ask how weak minded you must be to actually be offended or in any way affected by a comic strip drawn 60 years ago.
