“They’d make short work of a small boat.”

Love to see it once in a while.

I’m surprised given the current administation’s attitude toward immigration in general, and illegal immigration in particular, that the agent hasn’t been charged with trespassing.

" You say illegal aliens are attempting to murder ICE agents
and that they are setting fire to forests and fields along the border
to distract U.S. Border Patrol Agents to make their crossing easier,
and throwing Molotov cocktails at US agents’ vehicles, and
setting fire to their observation posts? "

"I'm the Homeland Security Chief. What do you want me to do about it? "

The perps “were interviewed”. There’s no mention of an “arrest”

Of course not. King George and congress are far too busy figuring out how to reward these criminals. They don't have time to enforce the law and protect America and its border. But they do have plenty of time to jail and punish those border agents who do their jobs and at least try to protect our country. If these CGs arrest these illegals, they'll probably wind up sharing cells with Ramos and Campeon.

The patrol boats I see around here (Puget Sound), those would be Customs, H/L Security, CG, all have 50 cal. mounted on the bow. They’d make short work of a small boat.

Well, in theory...first they'd have to get permission to fire.

Where is a .50 cal when you need one? NOT sarcasm...

"...they should have blown that boat out of the water..."

A message we also didn't send when the go-fast boats and airplanes started importing hard drugs.

"It’s well past time to start sending the smugglers a message."

I think we have sent them a message several times, in fact. But it's too bad the messages are only that we have a President who has no intention of doing his sworn duty.

I’m surprised we have any Border Patrol left!

The agent will probably be punished by his department and have to spend his life savings fighting to stay out of jail. I'm sure AG Gonzales is looking to ruin his career right now.

But the buck doesn't stop there. There are people far more powerful than the AG who appear to be more interested in prosecuting the agents than the criminals.

What do you suppose would happen if this happened to a Federale in Mexican waters?

They probably gave them a bigger boat and a wad of cash and sent them on their way.

What is the use of having armed agents out if they allow deadly violence without responding. Throwing rocks and pushing agents into a cold sea from a moving boat certainly consititute the use of deadly force.
We need new leaders and new rules of engagement.
