It’s not too early at all. The nomination will be decided in about five months.

ABSOLUTELY!!

With the 'acclerated primary' schedule--and so many states trying to outdo the others by 'moving up' their primaries/caucuses....

the nomination WILL be decided by next February!!

"FT needs to get into the damn ring already."

Boy, do I agree.

You may be right about the time table for the nomination...but all the cards are not on the table yet and hillary has not had ample opportunity to self-destruct yet.

And, do not forget the "New Media." I'll stick to my guns about the premature electulation (sorry) polls.

Giuliani, defying conventional wisdom, continues to show strength among groups not expected to be favorable towards his candidacy. He leads the field among conservatives, those who live in the South and West, evangelical Christians, and voters who think that a candidate’s personal life should be a factor in deciding whom to support.

Its not defying conventional wisdom.

Republicans understand the big issue of 2008 is the War on Terror, and Rudy is the best candidate in either party to lead it.

Thus Rudy’s ongoing and enduring strength in poll after poll.

I don’t trust CBS’s motives for publishing any story, but we on the Republican side have a lot of good men to choose from.

There’s more integrity in the least Republican candidate then there is in all the Democrat candidates combined.

People here in the south think Rudy is the only one who can stop Hillary. They are willing to give some things to keep her out of the White House.

From what I understand, Romney should have won the Iowa Straw Poll because yes, he spent money. He won what he should have won.

Spending money in politics can result in more votes.

My point was that instead of opinion polls, this was the closest thing to an election we've had yet, and he won given the resources he spent.

Rudy's strategy was not to be spending money and time in Iowa from what I can gather. He got what he paid for.

It's still too early for all of this, IMO.

Yes, Rudy is viable as a candidate but he's not my first choice. I'm a grass roots type of Republican, and Rudy isn't grass roots enough for me. He reminds me of the Rockefeller type of Republicans. If he's the nominee I'll hold my nose and vote for him. He is a better choice than the collection of Socialists and Marxists on the Democrat ticket.

If Fred doesn’t jump in, it’ll be a fight between the libertarian wing of the GOP (Romney, Paul) and the social conservative/WOT wing (Hunter, Tancredo). Things could get ugly.
A race between just Romney, Paul, Hunter, and Tancredo would look exactly like the Iowa straw poll — a one man race.

I don’t buy that at all. I’m a conservative evangelical and one thing I have been consistent about is my strong disdain for Rudy the Rumpranger. To my way of thinking, he and Mrs. Clinton on on the same plain of worthlessness. He is a baby killing, gun grabbing, and homophilic fool (just like Mrs. Clinton). I don’t see ANY substantial difference between the two except of the “meaningless” initials (R) or (D) behind their names.

I cannot nor will I ever vote for Rudolph. I’m throughly convinced that many others of my ilk feel exactly the same.

Goldwater did get loopy in his final years, didn't he?

Giuliani is the most viable candidate for us GOPers.

Uh, he's not. If he's nominated, I'm voting 3rd party. Period.

And Rudy is not even tough on the WOT. He supports open borders & gun control. And he never wore the uniform. I’ll say this about Ron Paul. He unfortunately supports cutting and running but at least he served when drafted and he supports strict border security and interior enforcement. Rudy’s idea of fighting terrorism would be the creation of a perpetual police state that would violate the rights of law-abiding citizens rather than catching criminals.

“People here in the south think Rudy is the only one who can stop Hillary. They are willing to give some things to keep her out of the White House.”

I agree. This isn’t a normal election. If it were normal, we could hold out for someone purely conservative, but the main goal in this election is to defeat Hillary.

You have to design a weapon to defeat your enemy. We need an energetic, enthusiatic, quick street fighter. That might be Mitt, Duncan or Rudy. I don’t know about Fred. Frankly, he is starting to seem a little lazy and hesitant and his “I’m gonna announce soon” act is getting a little old. Even Hannity is getting tired of it.
