I had seen the episode you had mentioned. The Situation portrayed, in which the people of Earth sent up a hibernacular space station to sleep past a cosmic catastrophe and repopulate the Earth, is quite similar to what is depicted in the article.

Seeing what happened in the program, they may want to bring DDT.

I remembered the first season. Kind of funny looking at Victor sitting down on the far left ! Can't believe this show was over 30 years ago !

Kind of interesting, Barbara Bain and Martin Landau were married at one time. Divorced in 1993.

Of course one has to worry about a major impact on the moon, though its lack of Atmosphere would ameliorate much of the blast and heat effects we would suffer on earth.

Why would the moon not be far enough away...wouldn’t it depend the size of the impactor? The moon itself has no atmosphere so heat and blast effects shouldn’t be an issue. Maybe orbiting debris from parts of Earth thrown up from the impact might rain down on the moon!
