I think it was the 60’s and the advent of a tv war. People and ‘young adults’ got to see first hand that war was not an Audie Murphy movie. ‘Holy smokes, we could get hurt or even killed.’ I feel that was the when the real anti-war crowd started getting attention. Walter Cronkite and the boys pushed it along and then the politicians started going along and damned if the politicians didn’t screw us. That was also the time the Dems jumped the shark. No, Dick Cheney was in charge of screening and recommending VP candidates for GWB as GOP Presidential nominee. Upon frustration with the process, Bush offered Cheney the job. Disallow any and all immigration to this country from any Muslim country. Deport all non citizen Muslims and keep as close an eye on the remaining ones as well as we did the Japanese American in 1942. Secure our borders.

Putting ground troops in these countries to institute democracy is a fools errand and will result in one long quagmire.
Even if successful, the newly empowered democratic Arabs will elect the Muslim fundamentalist entities that are our enemies.
