Ok, RINO Rick, lets sell TXDOT. Fire them all and out source their jobs to India.
I am serious, if they do not want to work for the their money machine, get rid of them all.

You are opposed to private ownership of roads?

BTTT You are absolutely correct! My post came up after yours, (60) but with the same basic premise. I can't believe "conservatives" are falling for this crap. Not to mention that one of the joys of America has been the freedom of travel. I lived in Taiwan where the traffic would flow, then bunch up a few miles later to pay tolls, then off they'd speed again. It is AWFUL!
Now toll bridges are popping up where the tolls are in perpetuity... what a racket!
IMHO: Government responsibilities: Lean & agile representative government providing security, roads, infrastructure...then get out of our way! As a cherry on the top get rid of the IRS and bring back the gold standard.

Absolutely, expecially those that have already been paid for with our gasoline taxes.

As for redirecting funds and waste, that will disappear with privatization.

One of these days, our taxes will be 110% of our incomes and we will all be arrested by the IRS and jailed for failure to pay taxes.

To ask taxpayers to pay for them twice is unconscienceable It'll make 'em angry enough to pass out!
To: Sarajevo
Yes, I know. All the psuedoconservatives think the public sector is more efficient than the private sector.
To: JZelle
How much is it now?
On I-95, it's $1.00, but our Dim guv wants to hike that (remember, I-95 in NH only goes 17 miles). If you want to transit from I-95 to NH-101 or vice versa it's 50 cents. I know it's a lot higher in Maine, the one outside Kennebunk is something like $1.75.
I-93 has one between ManchVegas and Concord (75 cents, IIRC) and the tolls I have to go through on the Spaulding Turnpike (Hwy 16) between Pease/Portsmouth and Rochester are 50 cents each.
