My cat has the run of the back deck and will not wander off but with one exception. I have a bird feeder about 15 - 20 feet off the deck and she knows that she is free to stalk the bird at will.
The finches and sparrows stay on the feeder so they are safe. The doves on the other hand feed on the ground so its quite comical watching my cat try her best to stalk them. She's never gotten one yet because they are always watching her and when she makes her move, they're gone.
She has gotten a young robin and a young grackle who were stupid enough to walk under the bushes next to the feeder and give my cat cover for her attack. Snatch and grab then the dash into the house......when she let the grackle go it flew into my den and onto the top of my book cases.........LOL!
Perhaps, it depends upon the specific details of the law. It may single out cats, dogs, livestock, etc. but not cover wild animals.
Don't shoot unless you know. I'll go back to my original point. If he was doing the right thing, then why did he flee after shooting the cat?
I don’t know the area personally, but I would not advocate the genocide of the feral cat population. They are needed to control the population of other pests, who are also needed to control the population of their own pests. It’s all part of the food chain!
If he was doing the right thing, then why did he flee after shooting the cat?
Because he realized the man yelling was a cat person and everyone knows cat people are crazy ;)
I tend to think that anyone who shoots a cat wearing a collar should face some kind of liability, civil or criminal I don’t know, but something.
As for uncollarred feral cats, well, I can’t really get excited about that.
Any cat owner who loves their pet and still puts it outside without a collar, marking it as a loved pet, well they get what they deserve.
BS`
Any cat owner who puts his cat outside is asking for the cat to get what it deserves. Keep your cat on and or in your property.
Oooh, creepy threats are so becoming.
LOL, a truly good one!! :)
From bird lover to jail bird.
Have a reading problem? Since when has encouraging someone to be a responsible pet owner a threat.
You said “...is asking for the cat to get what it deserves....” and this discussion is about a cat-killing sniper.
LOL
Dude, the guy's got a rifle.
Well since I have made more than one of them into sail cat's. I don't know how that was a threat. Is there a form policy about making cat threats, is there one about people who think they own the whole neighborhood?
Now if there was ever a term liberals and the MSM could and would love it's that one. What power of scope was he using and was it two hundred, four hundred, or five hundred are even a six hundred yard shot. Was he using hand loads are store bought, what caliber, how many grains of powder, size of bullet and maker, custom barrel are off the shelf.
Strawman augment ,natural predators like Fox's,snakes, hawks etc all ready take care of the rodent problem
Coyotes diets vary. Common foods include mice, rats, rabbits, birds, insects and other small animals. Coyotes also catch fawns, wild turkeys and small domestic animals such as small dogs and cats and as large as 2-3 week old calves.
It appears the gentleman in question is guilty of depriving the coyote of a meal as well as his other charges. Now the coyotes will have to go after his beloved birds.
Still the coyote is a natural Predator, feral cats are a introduced species
To all the commenters: this is really an emotional issue, but in the end, only the piping plover has protection from harm as addressed in the Endangered Species Act and The Migratory Bird Treaty. Feral cats are a threat to an endangered species, and should be eliminated from an area that constitutes probable harm to the plover. If this were a case where a bald eagle was threatened with death by a feral dog or hog, what would you say then?
I’m surprised that the bridge tender hasn’t been charged by the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
When will the trial be held?
