“No red lines at Columbia University”

But I wouldn’t be suprised if there if there are plenty of up-to-date
version of “Red Channels”!

What kind of a son is Rabbi Boteach, revealing to the world that his father is now in Isfahan, Iran

I imagine the Iranian authorities are well aware of his father's presence. It is a police state after all. You don't get in without the "proper papers", and sometimes you don't get out even with them.

Actually the demographics of those who fought in Vietnam were little different than the rest of their age cohort. Were they were different was in coming from slightly higher socioeconomic backgrounds and in being slightly more educated. Oh, and the majority were not drafted either.

I do remember that. I believe volunteers comprised about 70% on contact units.

Then there was Project 100,000, McNamara's great idea to lower induction standards so the less competent could enjoy the benefits of military service.

It's actually SAVAK. I don't remember what it expands to, but they were the Shah's secret police. They were replaced by SAVAMA, which are the secret police of the current regime.

When I was in Tehran in 1975, the "mechanic" who was in charge of washing all of our vehicles in the Embassy motor pool was reputed to be a SAVAK colonel. Who knew?
