True. Soros has the cash, but he won’t want it to go to THIS charity.

Think ebay will run it as a “featured auction”?

It would be like owning the original document written by Benedict Arnold to the brits when he turned traitor against America. In a word, priceless.

My email to my phony senator, Tom Harkin:

Senator Harkin,

The letter to Mark Mays of Clear Channel Communications that you signed last week is being auctioned off on eBay. The proceeds of the sale will be donated to a Marines charity. Will you match the final auction price and make a personal donation to show your "support" of our troops, since you have no trouble showing your "support" by signing a clearly bogus and dishonest letter.

Iowans desreve better from you senator. With your background I am surprised you jumped into any discussion of phony soldiers. Tell us again about those combat missions you flew in Vietnam. Ha!

Did anyone who complained about “McCarthyism” ever level a lawsuit against Senator Joseph McCarthy or others over false charges of being a Communist?

Not that I know of. I'm friends with Lee J. Cobb's son, so I hve heard quite a lot about all that since he was one of the wrongful targets of that witchhunt.

Or perhaps he was a communist and it wasn't a "witch hunt" as you and the left are so fond of calling it.

Well in this so-called “witch hunt” it did turn out that Cobb had known at least TWENTY actual communist party members in his time, according to his own testimony. One can certainly argue about what steps were or were not desireable to root out communist party co-conspirators, but Cobb’s own testimony would seem to indicate that he not only knew plenty about the party’s operations but knew enough to know who 20 actual members had been (and that’s just what he testified to). That’s not just talking about ‘sympathizers’ or fellow travellers but actual members of a secretive conspiracy to overthrow the government of the USA by any means necessary.

“Cobb was named as a possible Communist in testimony before the House Un-American Activities Committee because of his involvement in liberal causes and his support of political and charitable organizations suspected of being Communist fronts. He was called to testify before HUAC but refused to do so for two years until, with his career threatened by the blacklist, he relented in 1953 and gave testimony in which he named twenty people as former members of the Communist Party USA.”

I'm anything but "left". All I know is what I hear from Vincent Cobb about his dad's experiences. I don't think he was a communist himself, but many in the Hollywood set were at the time. It was difficult to avoid parties and so on to just those where communists wouldn't be present.

As an aside to all this, my mother-in-law's mother was married to an FBI agent who married her only to seek out some of her family who were suspected of being communists. She finally found out that he was an agent and that he was married to a real family so she divorced him. The whole story is now semi-famous and a whole art suite (and short film) were made about the incident: link

If I were rush I would sue them for Liabel (that is written right?) or is it slander?

Senators have absolute immunity for whatever they say on the Senate floor.

I never said "you on the left", I said "you and the left". I think that an accurate assesment of history would be that McCarthy was right and therefore vilified on the left and the media. The term "witch hunt" is deragatory and incorrect. IMHO
