Faecal transplants allow doctors to reintroduce friendly bacteria into the gut, from a donor, using 30g of faeces. These recolonise the recipient's gut, restoring the health of the large intestine and killing off the bug.

Ahh as far as I understand it, those friendly bacteria can be reintroduced into the gut simply by eating good healthy yogurt full of probiotics and taking some probiotic supplements. This story smells like you know what.

Can’t gut flora be cultivated artificially?

He stated that just like Larva therapy for wound healing this type of treatment has a 90% success ratio. He also stated that it is having trouble being approved as a treatment in the United States.

L. Reuteri is known to kill this bug in the gut without a problem.

“French Dirt May Kill MRSA”

“Merde!”

Makes me wonder if the dirt they found in France was below an outhouse?

I’ve just finished six days of broad spectrum IV antibiotics and my information agrees with yours: a tablet-form probiotic from GNC and some live-culture yogurt are all that are needed to “repopulate” the gut with the good stuff (primarily lactobacilius acidophilus, but also others).

Fecal transplants? Good God.

Rabbits re-ingest droppings, and you can treat a sick rabbit with the droppings of a healthy rabbit.

Vets, farmers and Mother Nature deserve a little credit here.

I’m not really smart enough to answer that question and if I tried I would be full of it. Sorry I’m not a Dr.

But if gut flora could be cultivated artificially would it smell bad?

Rabbits re-ingest droppings,

I never raised rabbits, but I have seen chickens (eat from) and dogs eat droppings.
