thingy, thingamjig, whatchmacallit, doodad, dohickey, widget, they are all the same and yet very different.

On a somewhat related note conerning women's lack of technical knowledge, I told my mom to pick me up a bottle of prop wash when she went to Menards.

I've let this pass with a smile but have wondered how many people actually use this word (if it is a word) during everyday conversation...

I prefer "doohickey."
