Instead they posted a scrolling series of reasons not to read my book, such as that I wear short skirts, date boys, and that "Treason" was not a scholarly tome.After printing rabidly venomous accounts of McCarthy for half a century based on zero research, liberals would only accept research presenting an alternative view of McCarthy that included, as the Los Angeles Times put it, at least the "pretense of scholarly throat-clearing and objectivity."
This week, they got it.
The great M. Stanton Evans has finally released "Blacklisted by History: The Untold Story of Senator Joe McCarthy and His Fight Against America's Enemies." Based on a lifetime's work, including nearly a decade of thoroughgoing research, stores of original research and never-before-seen government files, this 672-page book ends the argument on Joe McCarthy. Evans' book is such a tour de force that liberals are already preparing a "yesterday's news" defense -- as if they had long ago admitted the truth about McCarthy. Yes, and they fought shoulder to shoulder with Ronald Reagan to bring down the Evil Empire. Thus, Publishers Weekly preposterously claims that "the history Evans relates is already largely known, if not fully accepted."

I have to get that M Stanton Evans book. It’s Ann Coulter who started to restore Sen. McCarthy to his rightful place in history and it’s M. Stanton Evans who finished the job.

I wouldn't say it failed. The smears against McCarthy and the denials of McCarthy's charges were the gospel truth as long as the left needed them to be. It's good to be vindicated in the end but what does the McCarthy story really matter now politically? There isn't anybody still in office we can hound out. They kept up the facade as long as they needed it and now nobody cares.
But what does she have against Uriah heep, anyway?
Are you kidding? The scumbag Democrats STILL use the word "McCarthyism" all the time to smear sensible Republican initiatives.

Actually, M. Stanton Evans helped Ann with the research on her book Treason. The opening sentence on the Acknowledgements page in Treason is:

I made the mistake of watching Boston Legal last night - first time in a year. During testimony an attorney said , “No one takes Ann Coulter seriously”. Don’t they wish.
Today the treasonous Hollywood crowd are at it again, except for a few. If you have the stomach to watch the satirical puppet DVD: " Team America: World Police" you will see the hollywood crowd treated the way McCarthy would have treated them today if he were alive. Nancy Pelosi, Murtha and Reid would be required by a Senate Committee to explain why they were publicly aiding and abetting the enemy.So would liberal CIA / State Dept. liberal whacko mavins like Plame and Wilson. Today these whackos traduce the official policy of the president with impunity in the name of personal politics while our soldiers get their guts blown out by Iranian arsenal marked ordnance, and suffer from other Islamofascists violence because of the encouragement these treasonoous tin pot politicos gove them via the press.
I still say these liberal whacko traitors should pay, and not just at the polls either.
In the best of worlds, this book might somehow rejuvinate our weeney spinless Republican reps in the House and Senate to do just that. One can hope.
I do not think the book is merely vindicative. Its an earth shaker for our present political and cultural wars with liberal socialists, who mean to destroy America with gays in the military, propagandaic news control, aiding and abetting the enemy in time of war, unsecuring our borders,illegal alien amnesty, NAFTA, WTO, and illegal political contributions from Red China. Pay back time approacheth!
McCarty is true inspiration for we conservatives , many of whom have abandoned hope after the foolishness involving the sell out RINOs in our last congress , who defused the use of the so called "nuclear option" to limit minority fillibuster. Big Mistake. People will be voting in anger now on both sides of this debate, and we have a disunified nation. It will be so until WE win this political battle, the way McCarthy did.
Hoover saw McCarthy as hurting the ani-communist cause:
