“See you back over at DU, comrade — our nefarious plot to disrupt another FR thread has succeeded!!!”

I may have to go over to DU sometime. I’ve been accused of being from there but have never even seen the site.

Then again I may not ever visit that site.

It's apparently intended to be a withering insult.

It's stupid rather than insulting, of course, but I find it's a useful indicator for identifying those who are not worth the effort of debating.

I said earlier on the thread that Federal makes a .410 buckshot shell, but I had it wrong. It's Winchester that makes a 3" .410 shell with 3- triple ought buckshot pellets which are .36" diameter. That would probably be the best defense load for the Taurus or that TC of yours, although the # 4 birdshot load might be OK too at very close range such as a carjacking situation where the BG is right in your face.

There are so many choices for defensive guns and ammo nowadays that it presents a dilemma for the first time gun and ammo buyer. It was much simpler back when I bought my first centerfire handgun in 1960, which was an army surplus Model 1917 S&W .45 Auto Rim revolver. But the two rules that my grandfather, who was born in Bexar county TX in 1879, gave me when I was a boy and which I try to go by is still the same, have a gun close at hand at all times and all places, and any gun is better than no gun.

I have an S&W 625 in .45Auto. My brass stock includes some .45 AutoRim and a shell holder to load it. It's pretty hard to find factory loaded stuff. Moon clips are OK to handle the 45Auto ammo.

I think I have a box of the 410 ammo with the 000 buckshot you mentioned. It is sitting way in the back of the ammo shelf in the safe. It's the rarely fired stuff. The 38SPL stuff is a "fast mover" in retail grocery terminology. That stuff is stored up front, frequently used, frequently replenished.

>honostly, your best bet is to set yourself up somewhere with concealment/ cover, between them and your family and let them come to you while calling in the cops.<

I would prefer to hold off calling the cops until the intruder is down and/or out. I am certain that they will hear the shotgun being racked and should they choose to continue coming towards me, well, I can afford the ammo.

Having cops tossing their fire starting smoke grenades into my house isn’t my idea of how to protect my property.
