So, is it OK for parents to have their daughters’ clitoris and labia removed?
There is a huge difference between the removal of the foreskin and the removal of the clitoris.
To: MediaMole
There is no way RC really believes:
“western medicine needs to step in and come up with a safe, sane procedure to limit any significant harm to the girls while still satisfying the cultural wishes of the parents.”
Only an ignorant and really stupid indvidual can compare removing the cloris & labia to removal of foreskin of a penis. The physical and psychological ramifications of the two are vastly different..

Just when I think Western Civilization is decadent beyond redemption, I am reminded that it (western civilization) is founded on the noblest of principles, and is still the greatest civilization on earth, ever.
Those multiculturalists, who would deny that, need to have the practice of female mutilation rubbed in their faces.

That was Keith Richburg. He called his book “Out of America.” He said that he went to Africa as an African-American, and left it as an American. He took a lot of abuse for writing about what he saw in Africa. I’ve read it. Everyone should.

Stuff like this is a real dilemma for the libs... "Am I a feminist or am I a multi-culti squish?"
It must truly kill them to impose their "Imperialist Western values" on these people.

Thanks. Makes one wonder why he would take abuse for exposing something so horrible.

Actually, the only reason I read this thread was to see how long it took for someone to mention "Male Genital Mutilation". It is truly a confused soul who doesn't comprehend the difference.

A. Absolutely not.
B. Stupid comparisons such as that blunt expressions of outrage over what is, by contrast, a genuinely barbaric practice.

Do we all agree that this description also applies to male circumcision? Uh, no.
Now run along sparky, the adults are talking here...

Male circumcision doesn’t kill the sexual function of males. Female circumcision is more akin to entirely removing the penis of the male.

This practice makes it all but impossible for the female in question to experience any sort of sexual pleasure or orgasm, let alone the other problems.

The UN Declaration of Human Rights has been denounced by many third-world countries, and applauded by many civilized countries. Seems odd that England would be allowing this, although the USA is probably most in compliance with the Declaration and pushing hard for it is the basis of much of the Dem platforms.

Although the two are not even in the same league, I agree with you.
I have three girls, but I told my hubby I would not circumcise a boy.
They are built that way for a reason.

I read the article with the repulsion that the subject always gives me; then I thought, “Oh brother. I bet some male circumcision nazi is beating his/her pet drum on this, and cheapening the real horror.”
And yep.
You probably think the same thing as I in even bothering to respond. But SOMEONE has to.
