Ah, yes. Expressions of outrage. Always more important than critical thought.

Can the ‘adults’ refrain for a moment from personal indignation and condescension?

What is it you think you agree with? I only asked a question. Funny how questions affect people.

I don't remember any religious opinions regarding the removal of wisdom teeth.

I'll be darned.

How about this?

Male Circumcision for Prevention of HIV and Other Sexually Transmitted Diseases

A recent commentary in Pediatrics reviewed the documented medical benefits of newborn male circumcision, including protection against balanoposthitis, phimosis, infections of the urinary tract in male infants, and protection against human papillomavirus–associated genital cancers and HIV and Chlamydia infection in adolescents and adults.1 Low rates of minor surgical complications (0.2%–0.6%) and safety and efficacy of local anesthesia were noted. The ability of newborn circumcision to protect against sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) was also shown in a recently published cohort study from New Zealand.2 Recent large randomized clinical trials in South Africa, Kenya, and Uganda demonstrated reduction of HIV-acquisition risk by male circumcision performed outside the newborn period, showing the role of adult male circumcision in prevention of STDs in adolescents and adults.3,4

There are plenty more studies I could link to that document the benefits of male circumcision, and not just against STDs.

However, I doubt that someone who can somehow equate female genital mutilation with circumcision would be interested.

Your post said NOTHING about religion. I was merely pointing out how silly the "it's built that way for a reason" argument is.

You asked, "Do we all agree", I said I did.

Nevermind, bub.

This thread is about the removal of body parts based on religious beliefs, another poster put circumcision in the same category, I said I agree.

You were the one who brought up non-religious procedures.

And, like I said, "cutting" and circumcision are by no means comparable, but both are done based on religious beliefs, although the majority in the US are just because.

“I doubt that someone who can somehow equate female genital mutilation with circumcision would be interested.”

Nice try. Using selection of terminology to weight the argument. Like pro-choice instead of pro-abortion. And pro-life instead of anti-abortion. You like those games. They mean nothing to me. So I’ll use non-prejudicial terms.

When did I ever equate female genital alteration, as practiced in Africa - and now apparently in England - with male genital alteration as practiced in the US? I just asked if everyone was against the one as much as the other.

The answer I seem to have gotten is “NO!”

Uh, no.

Actually, you were asking everybody to agree with you:

Do we all agree that this description also applies to male circumcision?

I realize it is the weasel way to try to get a point across without taking a firm stand, so let's do away with the "I'm just asking questions" nonsense.

Sigh.

Here is your COMPLETE post:

Although the two are not even in the same league, I agree with you.

I have three girls, but I told my hubby I would not circumcise a boy.

They are built that way for a reason.

I pointed out that "They are built that way for a reason" is a specious argument, at best. And gave examples why your reasoning is not sound.

I know what I wrote, and you are just being difficult for the fun of it, I guess.

I would not chop off a body part of one of my children just because some religion told me to do it.

Scrutinize the wording if you want to. See ya.

What do you have against the foreskin?

In this day & age, cleaniless is not a great reason to remove sensitive tissue. Yeah, fingers get filthy too....lets take off those stupid nails.

We should get this correct....it is not/not circumcision it is amputation....this waltzing around using PC correct wording, that is totaling manufactured by the MSM....the procedure is the removal(cutting off) of the colitis...more to the point, similar to the cutting off the penis....
