I saw your other post.
90K and you pay 30K in F/S taxes something wrong here. Where are your deductions, even student loans are deductible.
If you have a family (reference the 4K) why are your taxes so high? You are not taking advantage of these deductions.
I don’t know how old you are but there seems to be the feeling these days that everyone wants to start at the top - it just doesn’t work that way sometimes you have to struggle.
I’d be more than help you figure it out budget wise just send a private mail.
Borrowing $150 billion from the Chinese so we can give everyone $600 or so is about as productive to economic prosperity as if everyone just went out and got a cash advance on their MasterCard. It is financial self-abuse.
Every politician and media type who supports this loony proposal just told us they haven’t the slightest idea where private wealth comes from. It only comes from producing value. We cannot borrow ourselves into prosperity no matter what Lord Keynes says.
If they’re going to do it then adding seniors & vets is OK by me, after all seniors can get taxed on their social security - money they paid in taxes over decades.
It’s not vote buying as it’s basically a bipartisan measure.
As for your situation, all I can say is we’ve all been there, starting out is rough and living where you do certainly doesn’t help. It’ll be worth it in the end tho’, you’ll be glad you did it.
Student loans are not deductible, unfortunately. Only some types of interest are deductible nowadays.
$90,000 is my net business income after deduction for business expenses and overhead. The total taxes I have to pay on that, state and federal, adds up to almost $30,000.00. I have no mortgage interest deduction, single.
Under similar circumstances in Hawaii, I became a fiscal conservative. I relate totally to your story!
It’s a short-term gift to many voters in an election year. Politicians tend to do things like this in an election year.
I don’t like to play the class envy card...But my wife and I made $90,000 last year!
Our cars are paid for, my mortgage is about $2500 a month,
And we don’t owe any student loan because we went straight to work at an early age because we had to.
My kids are already grown and making over 100K a year! Still not being stuck with student loans because they didn’t go to college!
We are doing fine...and oh, by the way...We life in Kalifornia too!
I'm pretty sure it's not going to appear on anybody's ballot. Our elected representatives will decide. You don't have to cash your check if you don't want to. I might just throw mine in the trash. I would likely abandon some of my principles for the right money, but I can't be bought for a few hundred bucks.
No, you are not alone. The best stimulus would be to cut Fed spending. But Bush’s arm is apparently broken when it comes to vetoing any spending bill. Tax cuts/rebates are great...but spending cuts are much, much, much better.
It isn’t in their best interest, because they love to throw money away they did not work for.
It pays their salaries.
I’m going to use my 300 or 600 or what ever it is to put a down payment on a Politician. I hear they are for sale.
And the ‘stimulus’ package will be spent over the next 24 months!!!!!! How exactly is that supposed to stimulate anything right now???
Voice of Democrat: You’re RICH!
That’s just not right, Buster
I am much more pissed about the rebate in general. It’s not a rebate. It’s irresponsible pandering vote-buying pr BS.
The frosting on the cake is the ridiculous and illogical targeting to those making less than $75,000. It’s 100% spin BS. Someone making $100,000 is just as likely to spend the money as someone making $60,000
Basic health insurance for a young single isn’t that high especially if you accept a larger deductible, see www.ehealthinsurance.com for quotes.
If you rob Peter and give the money to Paul, you can always count on Paul’s vote.
There are fewer and fewer people pulling the wagon and more and more riding in it every day.
“How can conservatives and republicans vote for this?”
Conservatives can not vote for it.
Most republicans are not conservatives ( how much proof do you need! ).

And conveniently Sen. McCain returned to the Senate earlier today to vote yes on the stimulus package.
Senators voting against the stimulus package were as follows:
Allard (R-CO)
Barrasso (R-WY)
Coburn (R-OK)
Corker (R-TN)
Craig (R-ID)
Crapo (R-ID)
DeMint (R-SC)
Ensign (R-NV)
Enzi (R-WY)
Gregg (R-NH)
Hagel (R-NE)
Inhofe (R-OK)
Kyl (R-AZ)
Murkowski (R-AK)
Sessions (R-AL)
Shelby (R-AL)
Join the club... the rest of us ‘rich’ folk, who busted our asses in college and bust our asses now to employ, clothe, feed, entertain, inform, and generally all around make basic services operate (engineers, scientists, small business owners, health professionals, hell anyone with two economic brain cells firing together). We’re all rich. We don’t deserve crap. We should just shut up and work harder. Yep. Like 15 hrs a day EVERY damn day for a small bussiness owner like myself.
