As we honor the memory of Martin Luther King on the 40th anniversary of his assassination, I can’t help but think that Dr. King is turning in his grave at the savage behavior of too many young black people today. None of these young people grew up with legal discrimination holding them back. All of them have grown up in a compassionate society. All of these young people have grown up in a society in which equal opportunity and equal rights have been significantly enforced.
I wonder what Dr. King would think of the gang/drug/rap culture of the inner cities today. I know that elements of that culture were there during his lifetime. But the black family was intact during Dr. King’s life. The gang/drug/rap culture was not the mainstream at that time. Now unfortunately it is mainstream for too many young black people.
If in this case the victim is white and the attackers black, there is nothing “inexplicable” about it. I grew up on the South Side of Chicago.
Speak for yourself. There is a lot of fortune to be made in social decay. Heck, it is the number one employer. Cops, prison guards, sociologist, councilors. In most older urban areas the welfare industry and it's fellow associate industries is the business of the city. So, it is in the welfare industries interest that they do everything they can to not only not kill the job, but make it grow. The worse the better.
Yes just as I thought the victim is white. My general rule hold true.
RIP Conroy.
I wonder why they didn’t fix the red-eye?
Rasheem Bell, Nashir Fisher, Kinta Stanton.
Black Muslims? Raised up to hate whitey by teachers like Reverend Wright? The names seem suggestive to me.
People are responsible for what they do, but it doesn’t help when kids are raised in an atmosphere of race baiting and hatred.
Amazing. Great leadership there in Philly.
Be careful talking about vigilanteism, you will give us FReepers a bad name. Also there is a law against using U.S. military against U.S. citizens, even if it does seem like a good idea. I agree that a lack of consequences for unacceptable behavior has had an effect on these kids’ behavior.
And there's half the problem right there...
4 more teens arrested in fatal subway attack; sixth sought [Philadelphia] ...
just more b. HUSSEIN & rev run wright types!!!!
but blacks on white....NO hate crime!!!!
And the names of three of those just arrested are:
Ameer
Rasheem
Nashir
Clearly this was an Amish gang.
...yet Yes. A good point.
I noticed that too. “Snitching” is an evil apparently to these thugs.
Ya little know nothing idiot.
There is no honor among thieves and criminals.
The first to squeal gets the deal
When you're facing life in the joint, ya have a tendency to rat out your buddies real quick, while looking to save your own a$$.
We're surrounded by no nothing fools.
Whenever I see the words “teens”, “inexplicably”, “We have no reason why this occurred”, “there is absolutely no indication that it was any type of a hate crime,”
I immediately know what the news item purposely hides from us. The media should just say the truth. We know how to read news articles and we know what words to fill in that they deliberately leave out.
It’s easy to figure this out, because the media do it EVERY TIME! They always leave out 2 words. One begins with B and the other with M.
Now if whitey pulled out a gun, after he was attacked, shot and killed one of his attackers before he died, we all know that whitey pulled off a hate crime. Don't you just love the double standard.
Jones said they didn’t know how to deal with their loss, which is why they lashed out when they had words with Tazwell.

Oh, now I understand. For awhile there I was really angry.
Well, the day’s not over yet
