"I believe he died of mesothelioma, a pulmonary malignancy."

Yes, that's the cancer that has been linked to asbestos exposure. There has been spectulation that the asbestos in the driving suit and helmet that he wore when racing might have contributed to his cancer.

I heard it was the asbestos in the lining of the boilers he regularly cleaned out during his stint as a Merchant Marine.

Maybe it was a combination of both.

spectulation

indeed. speculation about asbestos being "linked" to maladies is quite a lucrative form of speculation, indeed.

Actress Vickie Lawrence of The Carol Burnett Show had a number one mega-hit with The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia.

"I saw a discussion with oncologists on FoxNews regarding Swayze's smoking while undergoing treatment, and one doctor said that the pancreatic cancer was going to kill him long before the cigarettes could. The other doctor also mentioned that the stress of smoking cessation would certainly not do him any good in his condition. "

Life sure has a sick sense of humor, doesn't it?

HE HAS PASSED THE THREE MONTH MARK....THAT SAYS A LOT ABOUT HIS WILLPOWER. HE CAN BE CURED! FOR EVERY DISEASE GOD PROVIDES A CURE...AND NOT NECESSARILY THROUGH ‘CHEMICAL MEDICINE’....(GO WITH ANYTHING THAT FEELS RIGHT FOR YOU). BLESS YOU PATRICK...PULLING FOR YOU AND PRAYING FOR YOU.
STAND ON THAT ‘ROCK WITHIN YOU’... AND BE HEALED!

From Science Daily - Traditional Herbal Medicine Kills Pancreatic Cancer Cells, Researchers Report

An herb used in traditional medicine by many Middle Eastern countries may help in the fight against pancreatic cancer, one of the most difficult cancers to treat. Researchers at the Kimmel Cancer at Jefferson in Philadelphia have found that thymoquinone, an extract of nigella sativa seed oil, blocked pancreatic cancer cell growth and killed the cells by enhancing the process of programmed cell death.

You know sometimes there’s a point in life where it hardly matters anymore. And the stress of quitting can be unreal. If it’s what he want to do, it’s his life. As in the lyrics of “If 6 was 9”.
