Good for the Cardinal. Hopefully this is just a first step in sending Pfleger far, far away from this environment which he has abused so badly as a priest...far away to someplace like Somalia.

Hopefully this won’t stop him from ranting publicly. Every insane thing he says hurts Obama.

Yeah, but like they say, this is just a two week “suggestion”. The Church’s structure is pretty much to blame - a priest can just about do whatever he wants in his parish - this one is nuts to boot.

Bet these two weeks are used to go over the finances and interview staff about anything else that might be untoward.

He’ll just declare himself gay, marry Rev. Wright, and live happily ever after.

I think you will find that the 2 weeks becomes forever, unless he truly has a change of heart. This is just a nice way for the Cardinal to get him out of the parish. Once out, he will be reassigned to some other duty which will cause him to depart the Church, again, unless he truly has a change of heart.

Fr. William Vanecko, Pastor of St. Kilian’s parish, will be temporary administrator of St. Sabina’s

Good luck to Father Vanecko. He'll need our prayers to deal with the aftermath.

You speak as if nothing has changed in the “child” (teenage male) department. Actually, priests are removed from duty and reported to the cops INSTANTLY nowadays. And several hundred totally innocent priests have also been removed, because of malicious reports by people who were mad at them.

Rest easy: Priests have NO rights anymore.

That’s not quite as easy or as fast as some think.

I support this decision. The church is no place to throw stones.

"“take leave for a couple of weeks from his pastoral duties.”"

Ohh, he's giving him a time out. How cute.

I hope it’s just a preliminary move before booting his vicious carcass out of the priesthood entirely. Maybe they’re hoping he will take that step on his own, once he is separated from the parish for a week or two, or longer. Can’t expect that a bozo like Pfleger is going to have a change of heart and begin acting like a Catholic Priest at this late date in his career, so let’s hope the church has the good sense to keep him out of any parish - someone like him is no more fit to be in close proximity to the young than the pedophiles. In both kinds of cases a malignant narcissism has overwhelmed all good judgment and moral standards.

I’m reporting you for anti-Catholic bigotry. A LOT of priests have been busted, laicized, tried, etc. A lot of innocent priests, also, because the zeal to get rid of molesters is so great.

REST EASY: Priests have NO presumption of innocence, and NO other right, anymore.

Now—if you want to talk about total impunity and secrecy—you can talk about bishops!
