It’s a Don Rickles thing.
Maybe we all could camp in their yard. Freeper meeting...
We went to the track last year later than usual and hit virtually no traffic! It was different driving straight through the coned area, after coming off Rte. 80, with ease!
Here's our ticket from last year and us with our Soldier son-in-law at his going away party!
My son in law in a Nascar fan. Don’t know if he was before he married daughter, but at least he has a grasp of the obvious. ;)
Curios....... which one of your links do I click on to find the tv schedule for the other races this weekend such as Nationwide, truck etc. if and when they are running?
That was bad enough but the fans in the section we were in were really obnoxious.
Then we did our usual post race party. We always hang around to let the traffic die down. Last year we had BBQ ribs plus whatever else and the ever popular jello shots which my sister color codes. Carl Edwards red might be vodka, Lime green for the # 18 might be rum, yellow for Kenseth's DeWalt car etc.
If you forget to bring something to the race jello shots are as good as cash to trade for what you need.
Anyway it took a lot longer that usual to just get out of the parking lot, about 2 hours. I decided to take a "shortcut" home over back roads to 380. We were cruising for a while and then we caught up with race traffic and it was a crawl the last few miles to Mt Pocono.
For the second race we did the deck party and actually enjoyed it so that's what we're doing again this week.
Yes, some fans can be quite obnoxious. We do our best to avoid and ignore when necessary!
We used to hang around too, but discovered by coming later last year we were closer to the the exit when it came time to leave. More of a walk going to the track, but way easier to get out of there!
We don’t partake in alcoholic beverages, hubby is an ex-drinker (it’s been 13 yrs., 2 mos. and 5 days, but who’s counting, not me, lol), never had a jello shot ever and never plan too either, lol, but that’s cool color coding them to the drivers!
We’re sitting this race out too, my husband wants to see if we can hear the cars from our house! We might go to the
August one too. Where do you usher??
As a side note, at a race back in'03 a vendor was selling flag patches supporting the troops. My sister asked how much and her friend mentioned to the vendor that my nephew was in Iraq at the time and the vendor said "I can't take any money from you" and gave the patch to my sister for free.
In the header, click on the Yellow “Jayski.com TV listings”
That was nice about the flag patch.
I’ll keep an eye out to hear from you then!
Our first Nascar race at Pocono (haven’t been to any other tracks) was in 1993. I got the tickets as a surprise for my husband for Father’s Day. It was great for our first race since Dale Sr., our driver, won! Him and Rusty battling it out on the last few laps was great! Seeing a puking drunk under the stands, another one passed out needing an ambulance... not so great. It was also sad because Davey Allison had died the week before. But all in all, we were hooked!
Slow sports day. There’s a spelling bee on ESPN.
Get rid of the damn restrictor plate and will have a real race for a change!
Especially that the COT's are much heavier then the previous ones.
Hope you have better luck than Corpus Christi has. They built a nice new airport and cannot get airlines to fly in, this before the latest round of fuel issues.
ummm ....
California is not a plate race...
And - the curb weight of the COT is 3400 Lbs - just like the old car.
Q is on Speed...
Oh Oh... big trouble at Fantasy City...
Ah, it’s okay. I’ll spot my bro point any time :o)
BRING YOUR OWN DAMN BEER AND STEAKS THIS WEEKEND!!!...
